US OPEN

September 1, 2025

Amanda Anisimova

New York, New York, USA

Press Conference

A. ANISIMOVA/B. Haddad Maia

6-0, 6-3

THE MODERATOR: Congratulations. Convincing win. Your thoughts on the match.

AMANDA ANISIMOVA: Yeah, I feel like once I stepped out onto the court I was playing really well. I felt like I was very focused and locked in.

Yeah, it was a really good start for me, and especially against a player like her, I knew it could get really tricky.

Yeah, I feel like I tried to do all the right things, and it really worked in my favor today.

THE MODERATOR: Questions.

Q. It's tough to know when you're playing after a men's match how much to warm up or how long it's going to take. Were you surprised at how early you were on court? That match was one of the fastest completed best-of-five matches in a while.

AMANDA ANISIMOVA: Oh, for sure. I normally take a nap at that time, and I didn't even get to, like, really lay down and put my head down. It was kind of like I just ate and then went.

I honestly prefer that, because, like, warming up several times and not knowing when you're going to go on is pretty hard. I feel like I've gotten used to it. But definitely tonight was easier on me I think. Just to, like, not really let the nerves get to me and go out and play was a lot better.

Q. The Brazilian fans are kind of everywhere on the tour. What's it like being on Ashe and having them in your air a bit, as well?

AMANDA ANISIMOVA: Yeah, I haven't played a Brazilian I guess since I played her a few years ago. It was kind of funny, because I feel like there was quite a crowd of Brazilians cheering for me at Wimbledon, so they're very common amongst the tournaments.

But yeah, I mean, it was a pretty tough atmosphere I think just because I wasn't really expecting it, because I felt quite like 50/50 out there. But I tried to not, like, pay too much attention to it and just try and enjoy it.

But I was a little surprised. But I guess it was, like, fair for both of us to have a good atmosphere. Yeah, I mean, I still enjoyed it regardless.

Q. You have had deep runs at every other slam and of course a junior champ here. What does it mean to make quarters now at your home slam at the pro level?

AMANDA ANISIMOVA: Yeah, it's super special. Going into this I truly was taking it one match at a time. Like, never really made it this far at the US Open, so it really means a lot.

I know how hard it is to play at this slam, just because it's the city, and I feel like there's a lot going on. Also being a home slam, as I said, it puts a little bit more pressure on the American players, I think. But I really just tried to embrace it, I think, since the first day that I got here.

I feel like with the mixed doubles also the fact that I was here, like, earlier and had that week to prepare also really helped me, just get used to the conditions and just being here.

Yeah, it's really a dream come true to be in the quarterfinal, and I'm just very grateful.

Q. Are you happy to get a chance to play Iga again? Or would you rather not? What's your attitude heading into this?

AMANDA ANISIMOVA: No, for sure, I'm really excited and looking forward to it. At this stage of the game you're going to play a really tough opponent regardless. So to be able to have, you know, a rematch or to be able to face her again and give myself another chance, I'm really, really happy about that.

Yeah, I feel like it's going to be a really tough challenge, but I feel like I've been playing well. Yeah, I mean, I'm just looking forward to it. I'm sure it's going to be a great match, and yeah, I hope I can put on a good performance.

Q. Do you already have things as compared to last time that you think you want to try differently, maybe tactically in this matchup?

AMANDA ANISIMOVA: Well, no, because I just finished my match (smiling). So considering I finished my match 10 minutes ago, I definitely have not thought about that yet.

Q. (Indiscernible.)

AMANDA ANISIMOVA: I mean, I don't think I thought about that. I don't think it helped me become a better player in any way. It wasn't a good performance by any means. I feel like maybe I learned some things from it and some things I can do differently, but above all, I think it was just a learning experience.

Yeah, bouncing back from that actually was, you know, a little bit difficult, because that never happened to me before. But I've worked through it, and the hard court season started off strong for me. So yeah, I feel like I have moved on from that at this point.
