GRANOLLERS-ZEBALLOS/Salisbury-Skupski
3-6, 7-6, 7-5
THE MODERATOR: Gentlemen, first of all, congratulations. If each of you could, your thoughts on the championship match.
HORACIO ZEBALLOS: Of course, it's very, very emotional moment right now. I don't really know how we did to win those last points after what we did during the match. I mean, they were playing amazing.
But we kept fighting. I think if I had to describe the match with one phrase is "never give up," because we were pushing and pushing, pushing all the time. It was two hours and a half that it was very mentally -- very tire mentally.
At the end it paid off. We are so happy. I can't describe it. I'm so relieved and happy right now.
THE MODERATOR: Anything to add?
MARCEL GRANOLLERS: As Horacio said, it's very emotional day for us. The match was crazy. Tennis sometimes is crazy, because we were talking now coming to here that how close you are to lose the match, and then in 20 minutes you win the trophy.
So, yeah, the key of the match was to fight until last point, and yeah, we are really happy now.
THE MODERATOR: Questions.
Q. Marcel, when you had the return to break them at the end of the match, they showed video of Carlos Alcaraz jumping around. Were you aware of that? Have you heard from him yet?
MARCEL GRANOLLERS: Yeah, after the match somebody told me. I saw the video also. And then going up to the restaurant, I saw him. Yeah, he was very, very happy for us. I saw the video. It was very funny.
Yeah, yeah, I like, of course, having his support, from a player like him. I really like him as a person also. Yeah, it was a funny, funny moment.
Q. For both of you, this is your first US Open title, men's doubles. What's it like to win here, the energy of New York? What kind of helped you guys get through to the title?
HORACIO ZEBALLOS: Of course, this is an amazing feeling, especially because in 2019 we came here and we lost the final. We were very close. I think we learned a lot from that final to try to push more for this one.
I'm so happy, because also, when I look out and I saw my team there, my parents were there, that means a lot for me. I remember all my pictures in my head when I was a kid going to my father's club. So this is an unbelievable feeling. Unbelievable.
