Q. Mason, you were obviously one of the few who didn't get to play in the morning rounds. It looks like you took that and you helped bring it into the singles match today. Talk about how you played today and obviously finishing off with those back-to-back birdies.

MASON HOWELL: Yeah, absolutely. It kind of stinks having to sit there this morning and not being able to help out the team at all. But I kind of just use it as fuel. These guys are so good. I have faith in all of these guys, and I knew if I take care of my own part, we'll be in good shape.

Q. You've had some of the most electric fist pumps that we've seen from any of the players. Can you talk about just your passion and kind of the joy that you play with?

MASON HOWELL: Yeah, absolutely. I love match play. I think that's just a part of it. I love getting the crowd into it. I think that's a big part of it. Also kind of playing mind games with your opponent a little bit. Yeah, this event is super special, and it's just one of those things, playing for your country, it just means so much.

Q. What was the message from Captain Smith before going into the afternoon round?

MASON HOWELL: Absolutely, he said go have fun. I would be lying if I said I wasn't super nervous on the first tee, but no, what a day. What a beautiful day out here. It's been awesome.
