Jeeno Thitikul

Boston, Massachusetts, USA

TPC Boston

Quick Quotes

Q. All right, joining me after the final round of the FM Championship, Jeeno Thitikul. You had an unbelievable week this week. You played all four rounds in the 60s. How are you feeling after this wound?

JEENO THITIKUL: Feeling pretty good. I think all the work that I have put in on the, you know, week off, all I'm trying to do is trying to right directions. And I feel really confident with my irons right now; also my putting.

Yeah, it's kind of boost my confident finishing second here.

Q. You were the only player to finish with all four rounds in the 60s. How are you feeling heading into an off week and also the rest of the season?

JEENO THITIKUL: Yeah, like I said, feeling pretty good. Definitely have the off week again, and I will go watching the US Open tennis, so really looking forward to that before Cincinnati week.

Other than that, golf is still good. I had still eating some good food still, and then still being around lovely people.

Q. There were a lot of fans out here, a lot of little kids that really look up to you. What does it mean to you to truly be the golfer that kids are looking up to?

JEENO THITIKUL: I mean, like definitely we're out here, I know we doing our job and trying to do the best, but like a little part of our job is inspiring the next generation, which is if I saw the kid outside, I definitely want to wave and say hi to all the kids. I know it's going to be a lot if I say hi to all of them, but I love inspiring them the way I am on the course.

I wish they enjoyed watching me play out there and I wish they can take and experience from us a little or the most that they can.

Q. On your approach shot on 18, how far did you have to the green? And then did you consider going for the green in two?

JEENO THITIKUL: I don't know like how far I have, but definitely long. I mean, like definitely I can't go in two for sure, because it's like strong wind today. I mean, not strong, I mean into the wind today, and then the tee off was kind of backward, more than the first couple days.

That's why -- it's too long. I think go into I might be in the middle of the water.

Q. How does being World No. 1 affect your play? How much of a burden does that become over time, or is it something that inspires confidence?

JEENO THITIKUL: I just wrote a note to myself that what position that I have been here, and I will just say to myself, no single day that I haven't been proud of myself, whatever ranking am I.

And then I'm just going to say nothing lasts forever and then my position right now, being here today, but like definitely one day in the future I have to let it go for sure. I can't be No. 1 for the rest of my life.

So I would say what I have been right now in the world No. 1 now, I just go out there and, you know, show them that what I have right now. And then no matter what happened out there, I know I have my team that got my back and then also I have myself that like I said, I always got myself back for sure. Definitely the first person that I got.

And then I think I'm feel pretty confident. I mean, like comfortable right now. I don't feel like No. 1 in the world kind of put pressure to me same as the first time that I have been reaching.

So that's pretty much my perspective on that.

Q. Does it feel like all the work and time and effort that you put in with you and your team has all been worth it?

JEENO THITIKUL: It's definitely worth it. If I'm not being world No. 1, I still saying we all proud of it and then how far we go from day one until now.

Like I said, no matter what ranking are we, we still have to be the same Jeeno on and off the course for sure. So the ranking doesn't define who I am.

Q. When you look forward to like a team competition, Solheim Cup, do you feel as though there will be things like that, any world competition or team competition, they'll be looking to you to be a leader?

JEENO THITIKUL: Yeah, I wish we can have like a Solheim. We have International Crown, but still different. I don't know how many teams do we got, seven or eight. I love and looking forward to have Asian battle U.S. or maybe Asian to Europe. It would be like a really amazing experience for all the fans for sure, and then definitely going to be fun for us.

But like we do have the International Crown in Korea year, this upcoming October, November, I'm not too sure about that. Yeah, I really looking forward to play that one.
