Quick Quotes
Q. Great round today; can you walk me through it?
ASHLI BUNCH: Yeah, conditions were tough, really tough starting out, and made an early bogey. Knew it would be tough, and sort of kind of kept telling myself there was going to be a lot of bogeys out there. Overall I was super pleased with my round, hit the ball great, drove the ball great. Had a little hiccup on the back side, got myself out of position a couple of times, but other than that, very pleased with the round.
Q. Which nine do you think plays the hardest, front or back?
ASHLI BUNCH: I would say up until today, really the front nine plays tougher, but I think the pins can be set on the back side where you could possibly have a couple short wedges. It's kind of tough to get close to the pins, so they've got the pins set where it was really tough on the back side today. It all depends on the pin placements, I think.
Q. Did you find any difficulty with those hole locations as far as previous rounds?
ASHLI BUNCH: Yeah, a couple of the pins today were on the front, and when the wind is downwind, it's tough to stop it. You can try to hit it short of the green, but it doesn't necessarily kick up. When the pins are up front, yes, it's definitely tough to get close to the pin.
Q. What part of your game are you most proud of this week?
ASHLI BUNCH: You know, I drove the ball really poorly the first day, but I've just kind of hung around. I've putted well. My speed has been really good. These greens are difficult, and I've really stayed patient. Putting has never really been my strong point. But I've putted really good this week and driven the ball well. I've just got to get a little closer to the hole now.
Q. How do you remain patient when things don't go your way on the course?
ASHLI BUNCH: You know what, first off, if you're not patient out here, you're going to be in trouble. It's such a tough golf course, and I've been playing long enough where I know I'm going to make my birdies. I've just got to stay patient, and when I don't hit it close, get your par and get out.
I guess that's just a lot of old age.
