Quick Quotes
Q. Out in 38, 2-over par, not going to plan. Home in 29, seven birdies and two pars. How do you explain yourself?
NICOLAI HØJGAARD: Yeah, I mean, it started off -- actually felt like I hit a lot golf shots on the front nine. Every time I just got a little bit out of position, I made a bogey. Felt like I was striking the ball well. So I kind of kept my patience.
But I must admit, after nine holes, I was pretty frustrated with the game, more with the score than anything. Then the birdie on 10 kind of started it, and I knew there was a few chances on the back nine. Probably didn't expect nine, but got on a run and hit a lot of quality shots. Rolled a few putts. It felt great to hole the last one on 18. I almost felt I holed it. I mean, I can't hole that many shots like last week.
Q. Your stated goal a few weeks ago was to play well enough because you felt your form was turning, to force Luke Donald to consider you for a Ryder Cup pick. If you were to win this week or next week or both, that potential is there, isn't it?
NICOLAI HØJGAARD: It might be. But I don't know, from what I see and how I see the team, it looks like it's pretty already set. So what I am hoping for right now is obviously I play well, but I just hope that Ras gets on that team now and secure that spot this week.
I thought after last week, I was out of it. But, I mean, I don't know. I don't know what it's going to look like.
My focus is not there anymore. I would love to be there, don't get me wrong, but I think the race for me is over a little bit, at least I've prepared myself for not playing. But I'll do my best these two weeks to prove that hopefully I'll be worth a spot.
