TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP

August 21, 2025

Robert MacIntyre

Atlanta, Georgia, USA

East Lake Golf Club

Quick Quotes

Q. Are you tired of the heat, Bob?

ROBERT MacINTYRE: I'm getting there. Give me three more days.

Yeah, it's difficult. Look, I wear as much sun cream as I possibly can. I look like Casper the Ghost out there, to be honest. I get a lot of shouts about my sun cream.

No, it is difficult, but it's the same for everyone.

Q. What worked best for you today?

ROBERT MacINTYRE: Driving and putting again. Drove the ball beautifully, but you've got to do around here to be able to put a score together.

Yeah, drove it nicely, and putter worked again. While that's working, we'll just keep the foot down.

Q. Is there something that's changed a little bit with those two things for you? We talked about the putting last week a ton.

ROBERT MacINTYRE: Yeah, and my driving has been good all year. There's are obviously off weeks where we're human, but driving has been really good this year. I changed a couple of things with the driver. Changed a couple of things in the tee heights, different shots. Yeah, it's just piecing together the puzzle.

Q. How long did it take you to get over Sunday?

ROBERT MacINTYRE: Probably until today, until I started warming up today. Yeah, it was disappointing. I've not really done a full debrief on what happened. But yeah, it's going to hurt no matter who you are. I'm just the honest guy that comes out and says it.

Q. Did you have to get a new set of clubs or were you nice to yours at the end of the day?

ROBERT MacINTYRE: The caddie took them away before I got a hold of them. No, they were safe. It was one of them days. There's a lot that I'm going to learn from that day, from the way I handled myself, as in interacting with the crowd.

But yeah, as I say, I have not done a debrief enough. I had a talk with the guys out here on my team, four of us, me, my caddie, Mike Kanski, my putting coach, my manager. Had a half hour, 40-minute chat in the house on Monday. I didn't do anything Monday, so we done a little chat. But I'll do a full debrief of what happened on Sunday.

Q. That was probably your first, I don't want to call it big stage, but first big stage in America probably, was it? Or first time you had --

ROBERT MacINTYRE: It was the first time with the lead. The U.S. Open this year was obviously massive. It just didn't fall my way.

Q. That was a big scramble for everybody it seemed like.

ROBERT MacINTYRE: Exactly, it was. It was just roll the dice and see whose number comes up.

Yeah, there's a couple of things that I know that I'm going to change, but do you know what it's really going to help me for? Bethpage. There's things that I'm going to learn from that week or from them two days, Saturday, Sunday especially, that are going to help me.

Q. In Baltimore for Bethpage you mean?

ROBERT MacINTYRE: 100 percent. It's going to be the way I handle myself, not so much my attitude out there because I'm fiery, I'm always going to be fiery, I'm always going to be -- yell, swear, yell, get angry.

But just the way I interacted with the crowd, I was trying to keep them out of the way, but instead of doing what I did on Saturday and bringing them into it.

Q. To see Tommy come back every week, up there on the leaderboard again, what does that tell you about his resilience?

ROBERT MacINTYRE: Yeah, look, Tommy is a great player, and it's a matter of time. I don't think he's worried about if it's going to happen, it's just a matter of when it's going to happen. I'm lucky enough that I've got two wins last year. I'm yet to win on American soil, but it's been -- yeah, I'm building. I'm doing the right things.

Everything I do in the game of golf just now -- or in my life almost is to get better at the game of golf. I feel like statistically across the board I'm getting better, and the way I'm handling myself, the things I do outside the golf course, I'm doing it to improve in the game of golf.

Q. You said you have not done a full debrief yet, but is what happened last week at the BMW, is that in some way fuel to your fire this week, or do you forget about it?

ROBERT MacINTYRE: Yeah, it's in the back of the mind, but it's not so much -- I've always got fuel on the fire. Every time I peg it up -- if I'm teeing it up off the first tee on Thursday, I'm all in. I'm all guns blazing. There has been a lot of disappointment over the last few days.

I'll be honest with you. It's just been not wanting to peg it up here, to be honest with you. But the minute today I've woken up today and I'm getting ready to play golf, it's like, put that behind us for the week and let's go to town on this place and give it our best shot.

Q. For those of us who haven't been to Shinty, what's an away crowd like there?

ROBERT MacINTYRE: It just depends. It depends what you're playing in. It can be different, but at least then you've got 11 other guys to back you up. Last week it felt like it was me and Mike against the whole of the area.

But yeah, it's part of it, and it's going to be a great learning curve for me. I'm 29 years old now, and I feel like I'm going to hopefully play out here for a good length of time, play in big major championships, playing in big tournaments. I'm going to experience that again, so I've just got to --

Q. What's the buzz like, not only at home or across the UK. It's an away Ryder Cup, we know what that means, but does the word Bethpage add anything to what you're hearing?

ROBERT MacINTYRE: I mean, not to me. I'm just going to play golf. Yeah, there's no -- I've never played it, so it's just another golf course to be honest with you. It depends how they set it up, but they're not going to set it up like we did in Rome. We'll go there and prepare the best we can when the time comes and give it our best.

Q. Lastly, is BMW the only thing you've got between now and the Ryder Cup or do you do Irish as well?

ROBERT MacINTYRE: No, it'll be Wentworth. BMW is the only thing that I'll play. I need some time off. I think this might be 23 or 24 in a season, and it's only August. That's including -- well, that's excluding two on the European Tour, so 26 events until August is quite a lot.

Q. And you still have a few toward the end, Dubai and --

ROBERT MacINTYRE: Yeah, I'll play obviously Ryder Cup, Dunhill -- it's in Scotland, can't not. Then I'll play the two in the Middle East to finish it off, then we'll see about the Bahamas.
