BETFRED BRITISH MASTERS HOSTED BY SIR NICK FALDO

August 19, 2025

Niklas Nørgaard

Sutton, Coldfield, England

The Belfry Hotel & Resort

Quick Quotes

Q. Back at The Belfry as defending champion. What are your emotions as you arrive on site here after last year's victory?

NIKLAS NØRGAARD: Yeah, I think that good memories,. We're actually standing where I walked in after 18. Yeah, that's the best golfing week of my life. So it's special to be back. Been here a few times now, and it's one of my favourite stops on tour.

Q. Obviously you spent the first part of this year over on the PGA TOUR following your success last year. How would you evaluate what you kind of learned about your game and yourself and now coming back over to Europe for the remainder of the year?

NIKLAS NØRGAARD: It's been a tough learning curve. Yeah, I think it's difficult playing over there. I think it's probably more difficult than I thought. Been struggling a little bit with the results and yeah, I just think a lot of good players, new courses, far from home, I've had quite a bit of noise in my private life, too, with the baby coming and everything. But it's where I want to play.

So I've actually quite looked forward to come back to Europe to play a few events and maybe gain a little bit of momentum. But ultimately, I want to play on the PGA TOUR.

Q. Obviously perfect event to come back to and being a home event last week, how would you assess your week and what do you take into this one moving forward?

NIKLAS NØRGAARD: It's a tough Sunday but it's such a good week. It's so nice. I don't know how much you got of it on TV but we were just applauded on to every green. Don't see that very often and don't feel that. So very thankful for that. Game was better, and yeah, as I just said, been really looking forward to play these European tournaments now.

Q. Obviously this week starts the beginning of a new swing. What are your aims and goals as we now start the Back Nine?

NIKLAS NØRGAARD: I think it's good with that reset. The goal is for one way or the other, try and get a PGA TOUR card back. We'll see where I stand after Wentworth. I'll be playing this one, Irish and Wentworth. If it's to go back and try to chase the PGA TOUR card in the U.S. or if it's to stay in Europe, I don't know yet. I'll make a decision after Wentworth.

Q. I know you haven't been around the course today, but you've played quite a few times, winner last year. What does The Belfry offer as a test for players coming into this week?

NIKLAS NØRGAARD: It's a good test. I haven't been out on the course yet. But you need a little bit of everything. It's weird because just some courses really suit your eyes visually, and I think this one really suits my eye off the tee.

Last fall, my driving was the best it's ever been and I've been struggling a little bit more with that a little. So hopefully when it comes to these tee shots, I can get that a little bit back. That's what I'm hoping for.

But just as I said, so many good memories from here, and yeah, it's one of my favourite courses, obviously, from last year, but also just in general.

Q. What stretch of holes, if any, kind of really stand out on this setup?

NIKLAS NØRGAARD: I think there are some crucial tee shots. I think hole 6 is a crucial tee shot. I think hole 18, I remember last year, right after I teed off on hole 1, I was thinking about the 18th tee shot all day because it would be nice to have a little bit of a buffer until that tee shot. I think the last holes you can make a run because you can make birdies but you can also mess it up a little bit. I did a little bit of both last year.

I think hole 10 is such a cool hole. If I were the crowd, I would have stayed out there. I remember two years ago, I sat out there with some friend after my round because a lot of stuff can happen.
