PORTLAND CLASSIC

August 16, 2025

Grace Kim

Portland, Oregon, USA

Columbia Edgewater Country Club

Quick Quotes

Q. Here with Grace Kim after the third round of The Standard Portland Classic. 67; just couple shots back from the leader right now. Just how did it feel for you?

GRACE KIM: Yeah, I mean, I think knowing that anyone can kind of just go low, obviously it being moving day as well. Just wanted to make sure I tried my best to get as many birdie chances as I could.

I think the middle six I got a little bit forceful and tried to get a lot of birdies rather than letting the birdies come to me, as I think I said yesterday.

Eventually we found our patience again and finished off strong.

Q. Yeah. Talk a bit about the last five holes, back-to-back birdies and the hole-out.

GRACE KIM: I think I was just -- I had a little pep talk to my putter as I was -- what hole was that, 15 or 14? Yeah, just kind of found my rhythm again with the putting stroke and did it again.

Got lucky with the second shot. It kind od bounced off the sidehill and, yeah, left myself a good 15-footer.

Yeah, the hole-out obviously definitely helps, but definitely did not win the bet against my physio today.

Q. Talk about the putting stroke. Is it a tendency of yours to fall into a certain thing and how you got it back?

GRACE KIM: I just try to find my tempo. You want the putter to feel well in your hands and have that tick tock tempo. Obviously it's a little bit different for everybody.

Yeah, making sure I feel good over it rather than going into it kind of like half questioning it. So, yeah, really just work -- my stroke's generally pretty straight with a lot of mirror drills that I do, but generally it's all the rhythm and the tempo.

Q. And the hole-out, do you see it go in?

GRACE KIM: Yeah, I saw it disappear and that was very nice. Yeah, called Mitch over to see if I could get relief but I knew I wasn't going to. I knew my chances were very low. I looked straight over at Mitch afterwards and said, thank you any way.

Q. That's funny. What club was it?

GRACE KIM: 7-iron.

Q. From? Do you remember?

GRACE KIM: My memory is not that good. It was 142 meters and I had to cover 128. I saw it land in the rough and I was like, aw, please just get out of that rough. Yeah, it popped out perfectly. I'm keen to see if it went in like a putt or hit the pin and went in.

Q. And with that hole-out you didn't win a bet today?

GRACE KIM: No. I didn't shoot 7-under so my physio is off the hook with wearing a green wig at International Crown.

Q. How did the International Crown bets come about?

GRACE KIM: I think I just like punishing them. Embarrassing them is my joy. Yeah, I guess Australia is green and gold, so I started off with yellow tutu and then the bet today as of green wig.

Then tomorrow is actually hopefully green tights with the yellow tutu. He shook hands on it. We'll see.

Q. Last question. Obviously a couple back just going into tomorrow; you won already this season, a major championship. What would it mean to add another one on and how do you approach tomorrow?

GRACE KIM: Yeah, I think I'm in a pretty good group at the moment. Obviously just finding my rhythm. Confidence level is up there, yeah. And just I think backing myself is obviously huge. This course really suits my game and most of the girl's game. Knowing it's still out there and there is a chance, yeah, we'll be chasing whoever the leader is.
