U.S. AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP

August 16, 2025

Jackson Herrington

San Francisco, California, USA

The Olympic Club

Quick Quotes

Q. Electric stuff down the wire right there. Walk me through those last few holes, how you responded to that late run from Niall.

JACKSON HERRINGTON: It was tough. I knew walking down 14, I had a chance to get to 3 up, but missed that putt, but I knew he wasn't going anywhere. I didn't make a bad shot on 16, but it went straight into the wind, got a little bit of water on the ball. Then won that hole, won 17. I didn't feel like I hit all that bad of a shot on 17. Just drew a little more on me, I thought, with the wind.

18, I played this hole pretty well this week. I knew I could do it. Wind was in my favor. I hit a cut, was going to straighten every ball out. Had a good number for second shot.

Q. Obviously the big story this week has been the hometown crowd of Donegan and all the people out here. How do you kind of respond? How do you play in that energy? How do you find your zone amongst being an away player in a sense?

JACKSON HERRINGTON: I think I kind of feed off of it. Today we'd be walking up the fairway, after he hit the fairway and they'd be yelling like he made a hole-in-one. It was funny, I'd walk up the fairway and be like thank you. I'd feed off of it. There's a couple of people out here that wanted me to win, but it was kind of me against everybody else.

Just stay in it and keep grinding even if things didn't go my way. Pull off that shaky start. I knew I could come back, and I did.

Q. I saw this interaction on 18 when you were talking to the crowd behind me. Tell me about that.

JACKSON HERRINGTON: It was funny. Everyone was yelling Niall, and some guy said Jackson, and I had to give him a little pump. It was awesome.

Q. Talk about your caddie this week, your relationship, and how you picked him and your relationship moving forward.

JACKSON HERRINGTON: 2023 four-ball in Kilo, me and my partner Blades Brown, we were playing a practice round, and he was on the bag for the other guys. We got really close to them, really good friends, and throughout the week, he would come out and watch us. Then he was walking around with my dad. Got close to them, kept in contact.

Used him for a tournament, I think it was the Azalea Am, loved him. I wanted someone who knew me, knew how to keep me calm, and just everything about me. That was my guy right there, and now we're going to the finals.

Q. Speaking of the finals, how do you kind of reset after the emotions, the electricity after today? How do you reset going into tomorrow?

JACKSON HERRINGTON: I feel like I can play a little more free. My goal was to get to the Masters. Ultimate goal is to win, but I'm out here to have fun. I can go out and play a little free, see what happens, play my game.
