Q. I heard you putted cross-handed with another putter all the way until tournament day. That can't be correct.

DUSTIN JOHNSON: Maybe. Well, I just changed it up a little bit. I probably always knew I was going to putt with my Spider, but just for a couple days I put him in the closet. It's been rolling pretty good the first couple days so far. I feel really comfortable over the ball.

I didn't really make anything on the back side, but made the ones that I needed to. Then the other ones I hit some good putts, they just didn't go in.

Q. We saw our Sebastian came out of the gate, and now all of a sudden you're tied for the lead. Would you have believed it?

DUSTIN JOHNSON: I mean, no, because I guess at one point I was seven behind. But I knew there was a lot of golf, and I'm swinging really well. As long as I get it in the fairway, I know I'm going to hit it close to the hole.

Just needed to hang in there, make a few putts, and obviously I made that one on nine and he missed a short one and then birdied 10 and --

Q. Now that you're tied, what's the mindset for tomorrow?

DUSTIN JOHNSON: It's still the same thing. Hit the fairway first of all and then you've got to attack the golf course. It's out here. The greens, they're still receptive, and you get a lot of short clubs in your hand if you're in the fairway. It's really tough if you're playing from the rough. But if you can play out of the fairway, you can shoot a really good score.
