Quick Quotes
Q. Okay, here with Caroline Inglis after her second round at The Standard Portland Classic. Two rounds underway. You had a lot of cheers on the first tee box. Can you just talk about the emotions and feelings of playing here.
CAROLINE INGLIS: Yeah, this week has been interesting because I like hurt my back in the last couple weeks and honestly didn't think I was going to be able to play this week. Was kind of like tee it up and see how it goes.
I'm just really happy to be able to play. I think it's really cool to have all the support and like family and friends out. It's just always so special at this event being my home course and seeing friends that I haven't seen in forever. My mom is out here. That's really cool they've that support.
Q. About how many people do you think were here, extra support?
CAROLINE INGLIS: Looked pretty big. It was like 30 people. On the -- my front nine I made like three birdies in a row and it was pretty loud. It was fun.
Q. How exciting is that to play in front of that? I'm sure you had a little bit more cheers, too.
CAROLINE INGLIS: Yeah, it's super fun. It's exciting. It just makes you feel good and you want to make more birdies.
Yeah, I think it's fun. You don't get that that much.
Q. That's awesome to see. You're a member out here. You just mentioned you've been for a lot of years now.
CAROLINE INGLIS: Yeah.
Q. A lot of players have commented on how nice the conditions are right now.
CAROLINE INGLIS: Yeah.
Q. What can you say about the conditions of this course, especially since you've been here so long?
CAROLINE INGLIS: Right. I think I know the superintendent, Jim Myers pretty well, and he's just really dedicated to his job. I think this week we always get such incredible conditions.
I had a couple girls ask me, is this course always this pure? I said, pretty much. I mean, we are really lucky. Best greens in Portland year-round. It's a great practice facility and the course is always pristine, so we're lucky.
Q. We had The Standard step up as a title sponsor. How nice was that to see, that we would be back this year?
CAROLINE INGLIS: Yeah, I think it's awesome because I was a little worried we were going to lose the event, which is a bummer because it has so much history. I think it's amazing that The Standard stepped up and committed to I think two more years after this, and hopefully longer after that.
Q. And this tournament, like you said, has a long history.
CAROLINE INGLIS: Yeah.
Q. I believe last year you mentioned coming here when you were younger.
CAROLINE INGLIS: Yes.
Q. How cool is it to is see folks like Nancy Lopez was here, Juli is playing this week.
CAROLINE INGLIS: Yeah.
Q. What's that been like?
CAROLINE INGLIS: It's been cool. Yeah, I was a standard bearer when I was 12 or 13 which was really cool, kind of full circle. I think it's great, especially being the 75th year of the LPGA. Just seeing people like Nancy Lopez still giving back and then seeing Juli Inkster play and play well was pretty cool. She's still got it obviously.
