Q. Not exactly the finish you want, but 7-under, great playing. What was going on out there?

PATRICK REED: It's one of those golf courses if you're hitting tee shots straight you're going to give yourself a lot of opportunities, especially with wedges. I started out feeling pretty good with the driver kind of off the tee and gave myself a ton of looks. Just there throughout the middle of the round, made a lot.

Didn't know what kind of day it was going to be, especially after missing two shorties on the first two holes of the day, but settled in nicely, and that finish wasn't exactly what we wanted, but the golf game feels solid. Really with this type of golf course you've got to be able to put on the gas and get going, and we were able to do that.

Q. You've played hard courses, played easy courses. This is considered an easier course. What is your mindset on a course like this for the weekend going forward?

PATRICK REED: Normally going into these kind of golf courses, I always thought I had to flag hunt, just be so aggressive. But really for me right now it's just hit the fairway because if you're playing from the fairway you're going to have a decent amount of wedges and be able to attack from there. I think that's the biggest thing around here is playing from the short grass because if you're in the rough here it's long enough that you're not going to be able to get close to the flag. Really for me, hit it in the fairway and then from there I can start attacking.
