Quick Quotes
Q. Here with Adela after the first round The Standard Portland Classic. Bogey-free 8-under 64. Kind of talk about your day today. Really closed it out strong with a 29 on your back nine, but the front nine. What was going on out there today?
ADELA CERNOUSEK: I think I was hitting the ball very well. My caddie really helped me with distances. I think I always had like very close putts for birdie. I was able to make a lot of them, so it was great. I felt very good with my whole game, yeah.
Q. Talk about your stretch on 4, 5, and 6 and 7. Was there a certain point where you realized you can be more aggressive with your irons or maybe with your putts?
ADELA CERNOUSEK: No, I was just trying to do the same thing. Like hit the fairways, get close to the pin and try to make the putts, like have good speed on the putts.
I didn't try to change anything really. I just tried to keep going.
Q. On No. 9 hit the pin on way in. Did you think maybe that was going to fall at some point?
ADELA CERNOUSEK: Yeah, actually I had a little scream. I thought it was going to go in.
But no, I'm super happy to hit the pin because it stayed pretty close and it was cool.
Q. You hit all 18 greens today. That's pretty incredible. How important is it to hit fairways and greens out here on a course like this?
ADELA CERNOUSEK: It's super important. I mean, it just helps a lot with confidence because then it's just like (indiscernible) like if I make the putt or not. Less things to focus on.
Q. I was going to ask, you've been a rookie out here this year. What's it been like for and you what have you learned being a rookie out here?
ADELA CERNOUSEK: It's been tough the beginning of the season because it's been like a lot new things. I learn a lot of things about myself and just like how to manage like things around, yeah, because it's very different from college. I came from college and there you're always told what to do; here it's more like, okay, what I do I want to do?
So learning what works for me and what doesn't.
Q. And what has been your most favorite thing about being out here?
ADELA CERNOUSEK: Just playing with the best players in the world every week, yeah.
Q. What do rounds like this show you about yourself, show you about being out here?
ADELA CERNOUSEK: That like hard work pays off. Yeah. Yeah, it's just to not ever give up I think.
Q. Anything you're going work on, if you have anything to kind of point to, for tomorrow?
ADELA CERNOUSEK: My caddie and I, we're going to hit a couple drivers and maybe couple putts. Keep doing the same thing I think.
