Quick Quotes
Q. Pretty commanding win today. You're up three early. Talk me through what you were doing well today.
MILES RUSSELL: Kind of just played solid. Kind of stuck to our game plan today and hit a few fairways, hit a few greens. Putts didn't quite go in the way I was hoping for them to, but maybe just saving a few.
Q. You were up big at the start, but kind of faltered a little bit. Take me through what happened in the middle of your round and how you brought it back to win on 16.
MILES RUSSELL: I got off to a nice start. That first nine holes really is maybe the hardest nine holes of any golf course I've played. But I was able to play really well through those, which kind of helped for the whole round, kind of gave myself a little cushion.
Kind of midway through, just kind of hit a few loose shots and didn't quite get them down, nothing too crazy. It was really more towards the end when I felt like I hit a few wild ones and not quite as solid.
Q. Building off of that, do you have any adjustments for the game plan tomorrow? It's going to be the longest day besides the championship, 36 holes, up early. Any changes?
MILES RUSSELL: Try to play very similar to today, maybe just hit a few better iron shots and maybe a few putts go in.
Q. It's a month away. It's kind of not really on your list. You're trying to win a U.S. Amateur. But the Walker Cup is going to be at Cypress Point. Have you put any thought into that?
MILES RUSSELL: It would be very cool. It's definitely a goal I had through the summer, maybe the start of summer. I really just have to play well this week. If I play well enough, maybe, but playing good golf kind of takes care of everything.
