PORTLAND CLASSIC

August 12, 2025

Gigi Stoll

Portland, Oregon, USA

Columbia Edgewater Country Club

Press Conference

THE MODERATOR: All right, here with Gigi Stoll ahead of the Standard Portland Classic. First things first, how does it feel to be back in Oregon for a home event?

GIGI STOLL: It's nice. It's always nice to come back to Oregon. I love being in Portland this time of year. I think it's one of the prettiest places in the world in the summer, so it's nice to be home and see some familiar faces and be able to stay at home.

Q. And this is your sixth start here, I believe; last five rounds all under par. Can you talk about just the comfortability of being out here?

GIGI STOLL: Yeah, it's definitely nice to come back to a familiar golf course. I've had a lot of good memories out on this course and it's definitely a place where it's nice to be. I'm comfortable on the golf course.

Q. And then you got a win out on the Epson Tour. Kind of a quote/unquote home game at Casino Del Sol, at your home college course. What would it mean to compete out here in a real home game in your home state?

GIGI STOLL: Yeah, it will be exciting. This is something I've definitely dreamt about it for a long time. I used to be a standard bearer out here I was the standard bearer for the final group, so I've seen what it looks like to win.

To be here as a player competing it's really exciting, and would love to take home a win this week.

Q. Kind of touch on that, about the progression of this event. It's the longest standing event on the PGA TOUR outside of the major championships. Now with the LPGA going into its 75th year, just the growth you've seen from being a standard bearer to now competing in the event.

GIGI STOLL: Yeah, every year the event gets bigger and the city becomes more aware of how good women's golf is. The more that we can have companies like Standard help represent the Tour and show some support, it's great.

It really helps the Tour. It's been quite a change since the beginning, from 20 years ago. It's pretty cool to see how much it's grown.

Q. Do you remember who you were the standard bearer for or what they shot?

GIGI STOLL: I was with Loren Ochoa and we were walking down 18 and she looked at me and she was like, so you play golf? Just kind of asked me questions, and I was like, this is so cool. You're about to win this tournament and you're talking to me. Pretty awesome.

So people like that have really paved the way for me, and I think it's important to give back to the people who are helping out.

Q. And then what are some goals, maybe objectives you have coming up to the rest of the season?

GIGI STOLL: Yeah, I mean, not trying to put too much pressure on myself with where I am in the CME, but definitely trying to play you one shot at time and get some momentum here as we kind of close out the season.

Q. Your last start was at Evian; made the cut. In Europe got engaged as well. Talk about that. How is life as a fiancée now?

GIGI STOLL: It's good. It's really fun. We have been enjoying it. We had a really good time over in France and Switzerland, so I've just been having a good time. We're both really excited.

Q. I've been out here a lot of years, and probably started covering you. What was the first year that you got to play in the big tournament? Do you remember?

GIGI STOLL: I think I was like 15 or 16.

Q. Yeah.

GIGI STOLL: Yep.

Q. Coming from there, winning the amateur qualifier and getting your spot in the big tournament to now, has this been the dream all along, to be able to get your spot on the LPGA Tour?

GIGI STOLL: Yeah, definitely. I saw a lot of success as a youngster, and playing out here when I was 15 or 16 was definitely a little bit different than playing now. I'm really excited to be back. I'm glad the tournament is still around and it's great opportunity to see what I can do just now as a pro.

Q. Has the course changed much from the years when you -- what you remember of it when you played to what it's like now?

GIGI STOLL: Not much. This is a great course. The weather is good for these conditions, and honestly I think if anything the course has just gotten better. It's a great spot to be. I've heard a lot of good things from other players this week and everyone is excited to play this course.

Q. Talking a little bit about the weather. We have a 97, 98 degree day today; going to be a little bit cooler tomorrow. On Friday they're calling for rain. So you've always experienced the Oregon type weather. Will that help you do you think?

GIGI STOLL: Yeah, I mean, because I've grown up here I think playing in the elements is definitely something I'm really comfortable with. If we get a little bit of wind and rain it's nothing new to me. Hopefully we don't and we get some good weather out here.
