U.S. WOMEN'S AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP

August 10, 2025

Brooke Biermann

Bandon, Oregon, USA

Bandon Dunes Golf Resort

Press Conference

Q. You played your heart out there this week.

BROOKE BIERMANN: Thank you.

Q. Just talk about how proud you are of your performance.

BROOKE BIERMANN: Yeah, I mean, I'm like pretty -- I feel like I can take a lot away from this whole week and really define myself as like who I am. I am a fighter I guess.

So no giving up and, you know, with this long of a week, there is plenty of times that maybe doubt or you're down in a match, but I felt like almost -- no, the whole time I was like, I can do it, I can do it. So overall, feel like I grew so much as a player.

Like you know you can do it deep down in your heart, but like to actually get to that point of the week and have trust in your golf game, it was like, okay, it's great to see that.

Q. Did you ever see a different side of yourself come out of you be throughout this experience this week?

BROOKE BIERMANN: Yeah. For sure. I mean, I feel like, you know, there was many times like where there were putts that had to be made or shots under like extreme wind or something and I pulled it off. It's like, wow. Like I just did that. That's so cool.

So for sure I feel like I learned a lot about myself, yeah.

Q. Six USGA championships; third Women's Amateur.

BROOKE BIERMANN: Yeah.

Q. Talk to me about what you learned about yourself throughout these championships.

BROOKE BIERMANN: So much. I mean, the USGA puts on first class events every single time, you know, so being surrounded by like so many great players, every single time, pure, pure golf courses and just top-notch everything, you know, for sure has tested my game at the ultimate level.

I feel like throughout the years being in those events has really helped me figure out like what I need to get better on and how to compete at a high level. That's why I think I got this far this week, is the past experiences I've had.

Q. Absolutely. Whole family in town this week. What does it mean to have your family here to support? Your dad on the bag. I'm sure that's a special experience.

BROOKE BIERMANN: So cool. I'm going to remember this moment for the rest of my life. I mean, what a cool spot to be with my family and just, you know, forget the golf. I mean, what a great -- like what a trip that I'll always remember. Beautiful Oregon, and, yeah, and then remembering the golf.

Just like having my dad on the bag and relying so hard on him throughout the whole week and trusting him, it's just like I guess it does show like our relationship and how well we work together. That doesn't happen in a week. It has taken years and years of focus and grinding, so...

Q. Absolutely. Your coach and teammate flew in to see you?

BROOKE BIERMANN: Yeah, my college coach and my teammate flew in. And then my boyfriend flew in last night and slept in his car. Slept in the rental car because he couldn't get a hotel. It was so late. He got in at like 3:00 I think and I was like inch not going to spend $400 on a hotel room. I was like, Drew.

You know, and there is lots of Michigan State fans out here. I feel like the staff was so supportive. Like I felt so welcome the whole week. That's pretty important I feel like.

Q. Absolutely. Who was your teammate?

BROOKE BIERMANN: Shannon Kennedy.

Q. And do you feel like that relationship is just one that has been strong throughout your golf game at MSU?

BROOKE BIERMANN: Yeah, we've been roommates all four years. She has a fifth year of eligibility so I'm going to be rooting her on in college.

But, yeah, I mean, they texted me they were coming thankfully because I think I would've been in shock when I saw them. Yeah, I was like, wow, I can't believe she's here. Hi.

Q. One more question for you. Significance of the yellow golf balls. Tell me more about what that means to you?

BROOKE BIERMANN: Yeah. My grandpa gave me a dozen golf balls when I first started playing golf and they were yellow. Unfortunately he passed away a couple months after that, and a couple tournaments after I got a hole-in-one with the yellow golf balls, and so from then on out I've played yellow golf balls.

That was when I was seven years old, so I've been playing them basically my whole golf career. You know, every time I tee it up he's with me, and actually like this spot, it was his favorite -- he was a golfer -- favorite golf spot he's ever been to and he told my dad that before he passed away. I had to local qualify to get into this, and I told my dad, I want to get out here so bad -- it was my dad's dad -- so like you can experience what your dad experienced. Oh, God. Yeah, so but I'm so glad my dad was able to see.

Q. Last question. Positives, I know.

BROOKE BIERMANN: Sorry.

Q. No, you're fine. Tell me about what you're going to take from this experience in general, just a quick recap.

BROOKE BIERMANN: You work really hard, so does everyone, but you work really hard so it feels so good to be in positions like that. You know, to compete at the highest level and to beat some of the best female golfers in the world head-to-head is like such an amazing feeling.

It sort of the shows that hard work is paying off and dedication to a game that sometimes can be very unforgiving. So I'll take great strides from this and confidence in my game and my work ethic, and I'll take it onto whatever the next thing is and just enjoy from there and try to always be in the mentality of having fun.

That's what I for sure thought about. Take in the views. Enjoy. Love it, so...
