NASCAR CUP SERIES: GO BOWLING AT THE GLEN

August 10, 2025

Chris Buescher

Watkins Glen, New York

Pit Lane Interview

Q. Chris, everyone around the cut line was playing the points game all day long, Bowman, you and your teammate Ryan Preece. To come out plus 12 probably feels like a pretty good day I would say.

CHRIS BUESCHER: Yeah, I'm really proud of everybody, to bring this Field Submarines Mustang back here and have this kind of speed. Last year we didn't have to deal with the points side of things, so we brought a fast race car and made it happen.

We had a really fast race car again, just definitely took the opportunity to capitalize on some big stage points there early. Still got back up into second there and was making some pretty good headway. But just used it up really hard trying to get by a couple cars and get to that track position, and fell off pretty hard there at the end.

Q. I know that this is kind of an obvious thing to say, that being in 16th is the worst possible spot that you could be. You want to be inside of that, but playing these races out, from a driver standpoint, what is your mindset as you go into this? I know you want to win and you've got two good racetracks yet coming up to you, but is that hard to prepare maybe two different ways for these races?

CHRIS BUESCHER: Probably. I'm an avid person against points racing, but I do understand our situation at this time.

We went for those stage points there, and it still put us in a good spot to be in contention here and really still be fighting for a win, just not close enough. But to head into the next two weeks, racetracks that we've won at, certainly not the best place to be, but to put some more points on the board, ultimately that just comes from fast race cars. Go to the next two weeks, be fast, and it should take care of itself.

Q. Talk about the confidence level going to Richmond and Daytona where you've won these races before coming into the Playoffs. What's the confidence level of the next two weeks?

CHRIS BUESCHER: A whole lot higher than it was years back. Man, Richmond and I used to have this really terrible relationship. This team over here, they started bringing really fast race cars that made me look good there. It's turned my outlook around on Richmond, and it makes me really enjoy going there now.

I'm excited for next week. I think it's going to be a blast heading into a Saturday night race under the lights there at Richmond. It's going to be a good one for us, I guarantee it.
