Bandon, Oregon, USA

Bandon Dunes Golf Resort

Quick Quotes

Q. So you fought back today hard. 3-down, three to go, and clearly like really made a valiant effort to make it back up. I just am curious how proud you are of yourself is and your performance this week?

LYLA LOUDERBAUGH: Yeah, I'm super proud of myself. Loss because I did overcome a pretty large deficit going into the last three holes, but super proud of my performance this week and how I was able to manage myself on the golf course and really give every shot my best. Everything that I had.

Q. I should be proud of yourself. You really held in there. I want to talk about some of the highs for you.

LYLA LOUDERBAUGH: Uh-huh.

Q. 17, made a putt and 18 made another huge, I think they said 40-foot putt. Was it almost disbelief at that point? What were you feeling at that point?

LYLA LOUDERBAUGH: No, not disbelief. I knew that I could make the putt if I had it, and I kind of just was behind it -- or, well, actually after I had made my putt on 17 I was super nervous going into 18 because I knew I had to make birdie, so I kind of just said like a small prayer in my head to give me the strength to be confident and to really focus and control my nerves.

I think that definitely helped me to make that putt on 18. Although I did hit it pretty hard, it still went in.

Q. Was that when you're closing your eyes, taking a deep breath, is that how you were resetting?

LYLA LOUDERBAUGH: Yeah.

Q. Was there anything you said to yourself in that moment?

LYLA LOUDERBAUGH: I was like, you've made putts before. What's another putt? Give it a run and see what happens.

Q. That's really awesome. I want to kind of focus on the highs here. Talk me thorough your week in general. What were some things that were really an exciting experience for you out here?

LYLA LOUDERBAUGH: Yeah, going into this week I kind of just came in with no expectations. I mean, I did want to finish past round of 64 but I definitely didn't -- it's not that I didn't believe I could make to this far it's just that I didn't think I would ever make to this far.

After every round I was like I'm one step closer and now I believe I can win this thing. That helped me motivate myself through the week.

Going into the week my putting was really solid, my preparation, and I knew that that was super important out here with the wind, and I think that really helped me this week.

Q. What are you going to take away from this week and this experience in general?

LYLA LOUDERBAUGH: Yeah, I'm definitely going to take away that I have what it takes to compete with the best in the world, and that I should never doubt myself and that I'm capable of anything and I hope that that also shows young girls that they have what it takes if they just really work hard.

Yeah, hard work pays off.

Q. Best week in your golfing career. If it you were to be able to talk to yourself at the beginning of this week to where you are now, like what would you say to her now?

LYLA LOUDERBAUGH: You're awesome. Like, yeah.

Q. That's awesome. You're exempt two years in this event now. How does having that security impact your mindset going forward in your golf game?

LYLA LOUDERBAUGH: I wouldn't say it affects it a lot. Like I definitely still want to go out and win the MO Am and Kansas Women's Am. Make it a three-peat for the Kansas Am would be cool, and winning the Missouri Am for the first time would be awesome.

Yeah, it's nice not to have to go and play the one day 18-hole round. Yeah, it's nice.

Q. What's next for you? Talk about your college season and if there is anything else coming up.

LYLA LOUDERBAUGH: Yeah, so right when I get home I pretty much move into school and we get started in qualifying. We open our season I believe the 27th of August. So pretty early we have a full fall and then another busy spring, so I'm super excited for that.
