August 8, 2025

Ella Scaysbrook

Bandon, Oregon, USA

Bandon Dunes Golf Resort

Quick Quotes

Q. Seemed like it was even breezier out there today than yesterday.

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: Yeah.

Q. Yesterday was no picnic.

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: Yeah, it was pretty intense. It was five clubs more, four, five clubs more.

Q. Wow.

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: Yeah.

Q. Into the wind?

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: Yeah, into the wind, but downwind was pretty similar.

Q. How tricky is that to try to figure out? You got the wind and the bounces out here. Part of your calculation is not only yardage, but what it's going to do after the ball lands.

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: I got a good caddie, so he's helping a lot with that. I don't know, the hardest part is just committing. You know it's only 130 meters, but you're hitting such a long club.

Q. So the biggest club difference was a five-club difference today?

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: Yeah.

Q. Where did you have that?

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: On the back.

Q. Do you remember which hole?

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: I think it was 11, yeah.

Q. What did you hit into 11?

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: 7-wood.

Q. What did you hit during stroke play?

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: The shortest club -- well, during the playoff in the morning I hit a wedge in.

Q. What was your yardage on that 7-wood?

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: 7-wood was around 130 meters, so, yeah.

Q. When I say the name Jensen Castle do you know who that is?

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: Yeah.

Q. You drive by her every day. You know what she did here four years ago in this championship? Same seed as you, 63 seed.

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: Oh, really? Really?

Q. Yeah. Out of a playoff.

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: Yeah, that's crazy.

Q. Obviously in the semifinals now. You'll be one of the four left here tomorrow. Do you allow yourself to look ahead at all at what you could have chance to do Sunday?

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: A little bit, but try to stay in the present. Just go out tomorrow and see what happens. I'm proud I made it this far anyway.

Q. Is this the farthest you've gone in the match play competition?

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: It is actually.

Q. How many have you played?

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: A few. We have a few at home, and then pretty much most events I played this like season has been --

Q. Okay. Have you played the British Women's Amateur?

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: No. I think I'm going to go next year.

Q. Okay. Is the Australian Women's Amateur, is that match play or stroke play?

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: No, that's full stroke, but, yeah, we have only a couple of those events. When I go back playing Queensland, and that goes into match play.

Q. Are you on the amateur team for Australia?

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: We do it a little bit different. So golf in New South Wales a kind of separate to Golf Australia, but we do fall under Golf Australia, all of us.

I mean, the high performance.

Q. Are you on the high performance team?

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: Yeah.

Q. Are going to go to Singapore for the Espirito Santo?

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: I don't think we do that, no.

Q. Australia goes to that, yeah. They've won it.

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: I think they just pick random, so we don't know yet.

Q. You don't know yet?

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: Yeah.

Q. I believe you hit that pretty long putt on 1.

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: Uh-huh, yeah.

Q. After that, how much does something like that help settle you in and maybe think, hey, it's my day?

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: Yeah, it's definitely something that you want to do on the first hole, like hole the putts when you have that confidence that you can do that for the rest of the round.

So, I don't know, gives a bit of confidence when you do something like that.

Q. What did you do this morning? You obviously had a longer relaxing...

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: Yeah.

Q. After yesterday's marathon day you had the morning off. Do anything fun?

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: Slept in.

Q. Just rest?

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: Yeah, it was very good after the two earlier mornings.

Q. I know you've played a bunch of Sand Belt golf. How would you compare and contrast that style of course?

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: Pretty similar. Yeah, they're very similar golf courses like that, and most of the Melbourne courses. Even in South Australia, yeah.

Q. Felt comfortable all along here?

ELLA SCAYSBROOK: Yeah.
