Quick Quotes
Q. Interesting way to finish considering that you had 18. (Laughter.)
BROOKE BIERMANN: Yeah, you're telling me. We'll blame it on the wind. Broke more with the wind.
Q. Is that nerves or...
BROOKE BIERMANN: I told my dad, I was like, I seriously think I played that center and it broke, so I think it's the wind. I'm going to tell myself that.
Seriously I wasn't nervous. All the last three matches even yesterday I had made so many like good, great putts under pressure, so I don't think it was that.
Yeah, no, I don't think it was nerves. Maybe. Maybe you guys know me more than I do.
Q. When you miss a putt like that, you got to go to the next tee box. A lot of times a player, that sticks in their head for a while.
BROOKE BIERMANN: Yeah.
Q. Yet you got to the 19th hole and buried a putt that was much tougher.
BROOKE BIERMANN: Yeah. Okay, well, I just -- my dad was walking from 18 to 1 and he was like, shake it off. Brooke, you've been playing so good; chill out. It's hard to, but funny thing is I feel like the wind blocks out your thoughts. After that I was just like, okay. I did not hit -- I hit a good drive. I didn't hit a great iron shot. However, I was like I always try to find the positive.
Okay, at least I'm chipping into the wind and I'm backed up behind me, like I can be aggressive with this. I just focused on that. I had a very similar putt this morning for that par putt. I was like, I know this putt so well. Like I got this. So my dad told me, you got it. You know it, so...
Q. You played like a like a resort today, 41 holes of golf.
BROOKE BIERMANN: I've seen my fair share of Bandon. You know what? I love it. You guys see it, but it's beautiful. Yeah, definitely seen a lot of holes, which I'm okay with I guess.
Q. Are you happy to go out in the afternoon tomorrow, got a chance to rest? You played a lot of golf today in this wind. It was the most you guys have seen all week.
BROOKE BIERMANN: That is what I did remind myself. I'm like, there are going to be like -- like there will be bogeys out there no matter what and there will be tough putts to read, so like just stay patient.
Like maybe that's why I was able to roll over so easily from 18 to 1. Okay, that stinks, but I just played a pretty good 18-hole round in crazy wind, so that's what I was thinking.
I don't know, yeah.
Q. Seems like you're still processing the whole day in general.
BROOKE BIERMANN: Yeah.
Q. How do you try to celebrate today but at the same time try to prepare for tomorrow, too?
BROOKE BIERMANN: Yeah, I mean, I just try to focus on the positives. Like I don't know. What an amazing place to be at. My whole family is here. It's like I remind myself of that. No matter what happens I'm going to be happy. What a great place to be.
So that's what I'll probably tonight think about most, how grateful I am to be here.
As preparation for tomorrow, get some rest for sure. I'm going to go chill at the hotel. I just had two very stressful matches that I put on myself, but Cindy is a great competitor. She really is. She's impressive, so getting to play with her is awesome.
Q. You get the Cinderella story tomorrow, 64 seed.
BROOKE BIERMANN: Right. Yeah. So that should be good. I mean, see how it goes, so.
Q. Seemed like a pretty tight match all the way through your round. How do you keep that composure?
BROOKE BIERMANN: Yeah, it was for sure tight. All day it was just -- actually most of the day I was down, down by one or two, so just trying to like stick in it and just stay and stay there and, I don't know.
So, yeah, I don't know. I just focused mostly on myself. Just like all I can control is me so I'm just like make the shot, putt, relax as much as you can out there and enjoy the views. I don't know, yeah.
Q. Is this one of your first times signing an autograph for kids?
BROOKE BIERMANN: Yeah, I did.
Q. Saw you out there.
BROOKE BIERMANN: I signed a couple before, but when they th give you the golf ball it's always like, oh, boy. I am going to botch this.
Q. Got to practice.
BROOKE BIERMANN: A flat surface is better, but it's so cool. To me, like kids being able to watch golfers and especially little girls watching us, I don't know, it's like I would for sure get inspiration out of this if I was watching someone if I was younger.
So that's so cool. It's such a good idea for families to bring their kids out here and watch and like I remember watching so much like amateur and LPGA stuff and dreaming of being in positions like these.
So it's pretty cool to get there and hopefully more to come.
Q. Absolutely. Does that put it into perspective for you, how advanced you are playing at this game and trying to be an example, seeing their first few tournaments or championships?
BROOKE BIERMANN: For sure. Oh, gosh yeah. I just remember like I think yesterday going back and like playing in my first tournament and everything and the nerves. Then you get all the way to this point and you're like, man, it's like such a good sport. Just try to have fun out there. Yeah.
Q. You made it.
BROOKE BIERMANN: Yeah. I don't know, but, yeah, I guess.
Yeah -- sorry, I keep looking over there and it's like holy crap, what happened? Sorry.
Q. You're reflecting.
BROOKE BIERMANN: Yeah, so -- and then going into extra holes this morning helped me in that match. I was like, okay, done this before. I made a lot of clutch par and birdie putts on top of that girl to extend the match.
I'm like, okay, like I got this with Cindy.
Q. Brings in the confidence.
BROOKE BIERMANN: Yeah. Thank you so much.
