OMNIUM BANQUE NATIONALE

August 5, 2025

Clara Tauson

Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Mixed Zone

C. TAUSON/M. Keys

6-1, 6-4

Q. I wanted to ask about your granddad.

CLARA TAUSON: Yeah, he was a big supporter of my career. He used to coach me a little bit playing tennis and drove me to almost every single practice from my school.

Yeah, it was tough news yesterday morning when I woke up, but I think it's for the better. He was not feeling great for a while. But yeah, always tough.

Q. What's his name?

CLARA TAUSON: His name is Peter.

Q. How did you feel when you stepped out on the court and all of a sudden the crowd like (indiscernible) how did that feel?

CLARA TAUSON: Yeah, I think I just pushed it aside until the match was done, and then obviously when it's done, you can let the emotions go a little.

But yeah, I tried the past, yeah, 48 hours to just focus on the match. Now I got the win, and I'm going to try to push it away again and be ready.

Q. Can you describe that win today?

CLARA TAUSON: I mean, it's obviously a big one. Madison is such a great player, and she was serving well, especially in the second set. So it was really important for me to serve well, so...

Q. You've beaten two really good players in a row obviously. Any difference these last two nights? What do you like about playing here?

CLARA TAUSON: Yeah, I feel great playing on the court. The day before yesterday was a little bit more windy than it was this night, so it was a little bit easier to play. I think, yeah, just the night sessions, they fit me well. I really enjoy it.

Q. The stat about beating top 10 players, we see a lot in the media and game notes and stuff. Is it important for players as well? Is it something that you take notice of when you get those wins against top 10 players?

CLARA TAUSON: Yeah, I mean, it obviously gives confidence, but for me it's more about being consistent. I try to win these matches, and when I'm winning them, great. If I don't, I know I'll get a lot of experience from them.

Tomorrow is going to be a great player no matter what again.

Q. Do you feel like you can go on from that match and the match before to even higher fetes?

CLARA TAUSON: Yeah, I think even the last two matches I don't think I've reached my top level, but I've been playing really consistent and serving well. So yeah, I think if I play even better, it's going to be even harder for the opponents, but it's obviously on the day with tennis.

Yeah, being consistent is the most important.

Q. A bit off topic, but how well did you know Victoria Mboko before this tournament? Had you had a lot of interactions with her?

CLARA TAUSON: Not a lot. We practiced one time in D.C. last week. I don't know when it was, but in D.C.

Yeah, sweet girl. Obviously she's young, and she's doing great. She has a lot of firepower as well, and I think she's feeling great here at home. I haven't watched too much of her matches, but I mean, she's in the semifinals, so she's playing great.

Q. Anything you notice about the way she hits the ball?

CLARA TAUSON: I mean, I think she's serving well. I think her backhand is obviously a big weapon. Yeah, I mean, I think she has a lot of confidence, and you can see that in her game, as well.
