Carolina Lopez-Chacarra

Bandon, Oregon, USA

Bandon Dunes Golf Resort

Quick Quotes

Q. Blisters?

CAROLINA LOPEZ-CHACARRA: No, I have -- we don't know what it is. I think it's just inflamed from the shoes because they were new this week. But I don't know.

Q. Is it bothering you?

CAROLINA LOPEZ-CHACARRA: Yeah, it hurts.

Q. It hurts. Doesn't hurt as bad as winning these matches with a birdie on 18 and an extra hole.

CAROLINA LOPEZ-CHACARRA: Yeah, it's been a great match today. It's been a grind for both of us. We made some good birdies, a bunch of pars. I mean, Farah is a great player, so you never know.

Q. Yeah. Matchup of two top 15 players. You're 15 and she's like 5. You probably expected it to be pretty tight.

CAROLINA LOPEZ-CHACARRA: Yeah, I think we both played great. Just came up to like some like mistakes and bogeys. But we both made birdies. We both fought hard.

Q. She was 3-down and she birdied 16, 17 to go 1-up.

CAROLINA LOPEZ-CHACARRA: Yes.

Q. Then you made that great shot on 18. What, just a little pitch there?

CAROLINA LOPEZ-CHACARRA: Yeah, I went for the green and it just rolled into the bunker and then I just hit it to six feet and made the putt.

Q. What happened on 19?

CAROLINA LOPEZ-CHACARRA: On 19 I two-putted from like 36 feet, 39 feet and she went a little long, chipped it to like 12 feet and missed it.

Q. You won the Inkster Award.

CAROLINA LOPEZ-CHACARRA: Uh-huh.

Q. That's a pretty big honor. A lot of things come with that.

CAROLINA LOPEZ-CHACARRA: Yeah, I'm actually going to go play next week in Portland the LPGA event, so I'm really looking forward for that. That's one of the reasons I'm here this week. From Spain it's so far to travel for one week. I'm super excited for what's ahead, excited for Q-School, and yeah, just the Inkster Award and Juli and the work they do is just incredible.

Q. You get some money, correct?

CAROLINA LOPEZ-CHACARRA: Yes.

Q. Like $15,000 to help start your career.

CAROLINA LOPEZ-CHACARRA: Yeah, pay for Q-School.

Q. And it's a mentorship, correct?

CAROLINA LOPEZ-CHACARRA: Yes.

Q. When will you meet with Juli?

CAROLINA LOPEZ-CHACARRA: Well, I'm thinking either before or after Stage II because I'm playing Worlds in Singapore with Team Spain and it's just a lot of traveling. Yeah, I'm super excited.

Q. So World is before Stage II?

CAROLINA LOPEZ-CHACARRA: Yes, yes.

Q. Who is on the team for Spain? Probably got a pretty strong team? Paula...

CAROLINA LOPEZ-CHACARRA: Paula is on the team and Andrea.

Q. All three of you guys top 15.

CAROLINA LOPEZ-CHACARRA: Yeah, we are definitely going to give it a chance.

Q. Paula beat her final of the amateur and now you beat her. She probably says, I don't want to see Spain anymore in front of me.

CAROLINA LOPEZ-CHACARRA: Farah is a great player and you never know who is going to win when it comes up to those things, especially in a playoff. Just happy I get to play again tomorrow on this incredible course.
