AIG WOMEN'S OPEN

August 2, 2025

Mimi Rhodes

Rest Bay, Porthcawl, Wales, UK

Mixed Zone

Q. Mimi, round of 70, which came after a really hot start. Talk us through your round.

MIMI RHODES: Yeah, I had a lot of birdies to start with and I just went with it. Hit a lot of fairways at the start. I think my first one that I missed was on 14, so, yeah, just hitting it really good in just holing some putts.

And then just coming in on those tough holes, 16, 17, they caught me out. Yeah, those are my bogeys. Happy with the round.

Q. We've seen a lot better scoring today, especially from the English players, yourself, Georgia, and Charley really started strong. Was the plan to be aggressive on moving day?

MIMI RHODES: Yeah, I guess all the stress was over kind of so I just played freely and really enjoyed it out there and tried to make the most of the really nice day.

Yeah, there were definitely holes I couldn't be aggressive on. Yeah, just wish I kind of taken advantage more of the par-5s out there, but, happy.

Q. First ever AIG Women's Open. How would you describe the experience overall?

MIMI RHODES: It's amazing. It being so close to home, yeah, I've had so much family out here supporting and cheering for me. Honestly it's just been better than a dream come true.

Q. The last five holes are very difficult. What's the key to navigating them?

MIMI RHODES: You just have to commit to every shot, every start line, because the wind is definitely going to take it. I didn't think I did that to my full potential on those holes coming in and that's when I got caught out.

Off the tee once you're in the rough it's really hard to get on to the 16th green, and then same with 17.

So, yeah, it's just commitment really.

Q. Right now the lead is at 10; you're at 3. What will it take tomorrow?

MIMI RHODES: A lot of putts dropping, and just enjoyment really. I play my best when I'm enjoying myself out there and not really stressed about trying to make birdies or anything. I just have to let everything fall into place.

Q. Do you consider yourself a good chaser?

MIMI RHODES: Yeah, it's golf. The weather is not looking great tomorrow, so you never know in the wind and the rain. But, yeah, I think a low score is still out there for me.

Q. Do you enjoy chasing? I know Charley said she loves it. Is it something you like to do, something you're going to embrace?

MIMI RHODES: Yeah, definitely. I think it's more difficult to be at the top, especially on this golf course where you never know what bounce you're going to get.

So, yeah definitely prefer being back.

Q. Got to ask, the matching pink outfit with your caddie, Doug, who planned that?

MIMI RHODES: No one actually, but he did text me and he asked me, pink shorts Saturday or Sunday? I said, well, Saturday because Sunday probably not going to see them. Yeah, he didn't know I was going to wear pink as well. I'm glad we did.
