Q. Last time we saw you you were on a beach holding a trophy at the Amateur; now you've made the cut here. How has that been for you, that journey?
PAULA MARTIN SAMPEDRO: Yeah, it's been kind of a crazy last month. I've played a lot of golf. It was insane to get that win at Nairn, and being here closing my summer schedule playing some more links golf and at major championship, it's so special for me.
Now to make the cut and have two more days in Porthcawl, which is an amazing golf course and a super good test of golf, I'm really happy. Just proud of myself to have overcome this challenge today, especially with the wind.
Q. Alejandro won here. Seem like it's going really well and he's helping you play this tough links. Tell us more about that and how he's helped you this week.
PAULA MARTIN SAMPEDRO: Yeah, he's been awesome. I've been working with him for a little over a year and he has a lot of experience both on and off the golf course. He has played amazingly, won a British amateur, and then caddied a very good Spanish player.
I think his experience has been key, not only this week, but in the past year. I'm really happy that he can be here.
And, yeah, it's kind of a coincidence that I'm playing my first British Open on the golf course that he's won. I think that's a plus for sure.
Q. A lot of great amateurs have won the (indiscernible) and gone on to win the women's Open as well.
PAULA MARTIN SAMPEDRO: Yeah, I think that would be great. I don't really know where the other amateurs stand right now, but we have two more days of golf and a lot can happen. I think that will be really special. Now I just want to keep playing my own game, and I think the weekend is going to be more of not relaxing because this golf course is not relaxing at all, but definitely playing a little bit more freely now that I can enjoy two more days of golf.
Q. Won in windy conditions at a very tough course, and you're playing well here on a tough links course. How do you think your game suits that?
PAULA MARTIN SAMPEDRO: I think it's a very different golf course from this one, but definitely links and it resembles a lot. Yeah, as I said before, links is a whole different thing. You got to get creative, play some shots that you probably have hit one or maybe never in your life before, which is fun.
And, yeah, definitely strategy is key and numbers are key and just playing smart is the most important thing. Yeah, it's a whole different mindset. This isn't my last tournament this summer, so I'll just being super locked in on links golf the next few days and then just reset for the next weeks before going back to college.
