AIG WOMEN'S OPEN

August 1, 2025

Casandra Alexander

Rest Bay, Porthcawl, Wales, UK

Mixed Zone

Q. You were flying there for a while and then back-to-back bogeys. What's the assessment of your day today?

CASANDRA ALEXANDRA: It was pretty tough coming in. If I'm hitting a 5-iron, some girls are hitting a wood. You just know from about 15 it's going to play tough. Unfortunately, left myself in two bunkers and lipped out the putts for par to end up with a bogey.

Q. As first group off, what was the noticeable difference, if there was, between conditions from yesterday to today?

CASANDRA ALEXANDRA: It was a little quieter this morning, but I think generally the day is quiet wind-wise. It was an early start, so it was a little chilly this morning condition-wise. Obviously, like I say, the first five holes we barely had any wind that came up.

Q. Were you disappointed in that finish there?

CASANDRA ALEXANDRA: Definitely, but that's golf. Two basic bunker shots -- well, one basic bunker shot, the one 16 was on a bit of a downslope. Tried to make it work for me, but yeah, a bit of a disappointing finish, but like I said, it's tough to set it right.

Q. The last one, was that misjudgment, would you say?

CASANDRA ALEXANDRA: Yes, putt-wise. I was in between putting and chipping, so I took the putter. If you have 70-foot, it's pretty hard to judge the pace, and just ran away from me.

Q. Given your style yesterday, you must be really pleased by the rebound.

CASANDRA ALEXANDRA: Yeah, it's always going to be better. You're just trying to get comfortable out there. It's a big tournament, it's a major tournament. In the beginning, you're always a little uncomfortable. I wouldn't really say nerves, just felt uncomfortable over the ball and settled in. I knew today would be better from the start, so yeah.

Q. Tomorrow a pretty big day where you're in that position and have to go for it. What's the game plan?

CASANDRA ALEXANDRA: Same game plan. I think my team and I have done a really great job of navigating the course well. Where we leave ourselves on certain holes, it's a bit unconventional to what other people are doing, but I think we've nailed it down.

I've been in two bunkers on 36 holes. I'm not sure if you've checked the golf course, but there's a lot of bunkers. So I think we've done well there, so same game plan, and hopefully the weather plays its part.

Q. (No microphone)?

CASANDRA ALEXANDRA: Unconventional what? Bunkers? Oh, like on a par-5, people are hitting driver to try and go for it, and I'm hitting a 4-iron to give myself a great number in for the third shot. It was not into that today, but that's the game plan.
