AIG WOMEN'S OPEN

August 1, 2025

Lottie Woad

Rest Bay, Porthcawl, Wales, UK

Mixed Zone

Q. Lottie, a bit of a wild day out there. Just how do you assess that round?

LOTTIE WOAD: There was a lot more good in it than bad. Played really well for 17 holes, just that one hole cost me a bit.

Q. Just take us through that hole. How did you recover and manage to kind of get yourself in the house after that?

LOTTIE WOAD: Yeah, I think it's probably the toughest hole on the course. The tee shot is hard to hit the fairway, and then you've got 3-wood into a very strong wind. Anything that's missing the target is going to be exaggerated.

So pushed it and got a pretty unlucky lie. Wasn't too thick around there apart from where I was. So couldn't really do much with that. But the two pars after that wasn't too bad.

Q. What was being looked at when they called the referee in?

LOTTIE WOAD: We were just looking if it was embedded.

Q. Then they called another referee to say what?

LOTTIE WOAD: No, it was just a second opinion.

Q. Second opinion. What was that?

LOTTIE WOAD: It wasn't embedded is the opinion (laughter).

Q. Much to your disappointment.

LOTTIE WOAD: Yes.

Q. What were the various opinions?

LOTTIE WOAD: No, it's just that it wasn't embedded, so I had to take the penalty.

Q. It was unplayable?

LOTTIE WOAD: Yeah, I took an unplayable.

Q. Then you had to drop it eventually. I saw it rolling down the path.

LOTTIE WOAD: Yeah, I asked where I was dropping it. I was dropping it back in line. You can either take two club lengths or back in line with the pin. I took the option straight on to the pin.

Q. How do you rebound after something like that?

LOTTIE WOAD: I knew 18 was a good birdie chance. It was kind of just getting through 17, which is a tricky hole. I just had to forget about it as quickly as possible.

Q. Getting around at 2-under around here is still a really solid score. How proud are you of that effort to come back from yesterday as well?

LOTTIE WOAD: Yeah, I'd certainly take it now, but not when I was standing on the 16th tee. Yeah, just got to try to play well over the weekend. It's pretty packed, so I can move up a bit.

Q. Take us through the three-birdie stretch. What was going through your head to maintain that and keep it going?

LOTTIE WOAD: Stiffed it on 10, then unfortunate three-putt on 11, then hit a really, really good shot onto the par-3, made that. Another good wedge shot into the par-5. Then canned a long one on 14, which is probably one of the tough ones too. So it was nice.

Q. What do you make of the weekend at the AIG Women's Open as a professional now? You've played some major weekends before as an am.

LOTTIE WOAD: Yeah, it's good. I'd definitely want to be a bit higher up. A bit too far back now probably, but I think all the stuff I had going on this week, playing four rounds is never a bad thing.

Q. I know it's the same as the Scottish, but what's it been like working with Dermot as your caddie?

LOTTIE WOAD: Yeah, it's been great. Had a good record so far. He's been helping me be committed on every shot, which is obviously important when it's windy as well.

Q. What sort of things is he helping you work through while you're out there?

LOTTIE WOAD: I mean, it's just kind of what shot to play. There's some holes you can plot your way around. Generally course management is one of my strengths, so I kind of have sort of been saying the same things most of the time. It's not like too much, but it's a good amount.

Q. Is he going to be with you for the rest of the season, Lottie?

LOTTIE WOAD: Yes, so far. (Laughter).

Q. Can you remember a time in your short life when you've had an upset?

LOTTIE WOAD: I don't know, probably. I can't remember. Probably, yeah. There will be one somewhere. I'm sure you can find it.

Q. Not recently, though?

LOTTIE WOAD: No, not in the last month, so no.
