Q. Maybe a slow start. 3-under. How are you feeling the last two days?
CHIARA TAMBURLINI: I feel like I played pretty solid. In the beginning I was quite shaky this morning, I'm not sure why. I was quite nervous, and I saw a lot of trouble left and right. Hit a couple of really poor shots but managed to kind of keep it together. Around the turn made a good putt on 8, and that kind of got momentum going. Obviously eagle on 13 helped a lot as well. Had a bit of a hiccup on 16, but I managed to save bogey, so that was good.
I have to say that overall it's been really solid tee to green. I feel like last week already I played really solid but just didn't really make any putts. It's nice to see some putts drop now today.
Q. Talk to me about the eagle. We didn't catch it on the live. Talk me through how it went.
CHIARA TAMBURLINI: I hit a big drive, and I had a 7-iron in and hit that to like 10 feet and made a putt.
Q. Did you hit many drivers out there today? I saw you hit an iron on the 2nd.
CHIARA TAMBURLINI: I hit a couple of 3-irons, but I feel like on the back it's a lot of drivers, except maybe 17. A lot of drivers on the back because there's a couple holes downwind where you can really use the distance, and a couple in through, there's just no question. Not too many drivers, though.
Q. Just talk to me, last year you made the AIG Women's Open, you missed the cut. A year on you're right in contention after two days. What's been the biggest difference?
CHIARA TAMBURLINI: I've had a -- I don't want to say love-hate relationship because it's more of a hate relationship with links golf really my entire career. The last year, I had a good prep camp for Scottish and British with my coach and felt like I was actually starting to kind of get the game of it more, how to hit the shots on links, but kind of couldn't put together a score.
Did the same training camp again this year with my coach just for a couple days and felt like I had a good week in Scottish, and obviously playing good now.
I think I'm just kind of learning to see a few different shots and give up a bit on my normal yardages and these kinds of things. It's more about seeing and feeling it than a number really. I think that's been the big difference.
Q. Bringing Byrne in for this week on the bag, he's a very experienced caddie. He's been with Leona Maguire. How big of a help has he been?
CHIARA TAMBURLINI: He's been good. I think especially he's quite used to lot about links golf being from Ireland. There was a couple lies where he was like, no, it looks all right, but be careful because it's thicker than what it looks, and a couple of chips as well. He's been pretty good at helping me read some of the lies where maybe I would have gone with the wrong one.
No, I feel like we're working really well together, making good decisions. So that's been nice.
Q. Finally, I see your mom and your sister walking, I think, every hole out there with you. How nice is that?
CHIARA TAMBURLINI: It's so nice. I love it when they're here. They're both just so positive always and keep going with a smile. It's so nice having a familiar face here rooting for you. Also off the course it's been great to have them here.
Q. I would just say the position you're in, you're basically guaranteed a big group going into major Saturday. How excited are you for the challenge?
CHIARA TAMBURLINI: I'm just so excited. I think it's incredible to play in front of big crowds. Hopefully it will be that tomorrow. There's been a lot of people out here yesterday and today really already. Yeah, I love to play in front of big crowds. I'm very excited about that.
