F. COBOLLI/A. Galarneau
6-4, 5-7, 6-4
THE MODERATOR: Alexis, not the result you were looking for, but you still had a very good week with your first ATP win on Monday. Can you please tell us what this week has meant to you.
ALEXIS GALARNEAU: Yeah, I know it was a positive week for me. Really cool experience coming back here in Toronto and finally winning my first main draw match. I'm really proud with that.
Also proud of the fight that I put up today. I thought I played pretty well, and a lot of positives that I can take away from this week.
THE MODERATOR: Questions?
Q. In that third set, where do you feel like the match slipped away from you and went in his favor?
ALEXIS GALARNEAU: Yeah, well, obviously didn't have the start that I wanted coming back from the rain. I can probably do a better job managing coming back out there and maybe activating a little bit more, but I'll learn from that. That's definitely one spot where I wish I could have been a little bit more ready coming out of the gate.
Then in the 4-4 game, 30-Love, played a sloppy point at 30-Love, and from there it got a little tricky. Yeah, with guys like this, you can't be giving up opportunities like that.
Q. Going back to your main draw win on Monday night, what does it mean to have Frank, Daniel, and all those supporters in your box there? They were all on their feet when you won, it was quite the scene.
ALEXIS GALARNEAU: Yeah, it was awesome. These guys have been around for so long, they know how to manage situations, manage tournaments, and manage matches. I was really feeding off of their guidance and their energy, it's been awesome having them. And having also Vasek today out there was amazing, I'm just well surrounded.
Q. Waiting for that first-ever ATP main draw win, was that something that was starting to weigh on you a little bit or that you thought about maybe more than you would have liked to have, waiting for that moment?
ALEXIS GALARNEAU: Not all year long, but definitely whenever this tournament comes around I think that's something all competitors think about is achieving certain milestones and making steps forwards. That was one of them for me, getting that first one. Yeah, definitely wasn't trying to think about it too much, but it was a relief.
Q. Is there a time to really celebrate that? It's tough mid tournament, of course, but will you take the team out for a nice dinner or something to celebrate?
ALEXIS GALARNEAU: Maybe. We still got doubles, so I'll be ready for that. But after the tournament's done, maybe we go out for a nice dinner, or maybe some home cooking from my mom. We'll figure it out, but it should be fun (laughing).
