AIG WOMEN'S OPEN

July 31, 2025

Lottie Woad

Rest Bay, Porthcawl, Wales, UK

Mixed Zone

Q. Hi, Lottie. I was going ask, this is the last day of July. Just what a remarkable month. Can you remember what you were doing on the 1st of July before the Irish Open?

LOTTIE WOAD: No. I think I was at home. Probably just practicing.

Q. If you'd actually thought about the month ahead of you, knowing you're going to play the Irish Open and a couple majors, what would be a normal expectation?

LOTTIE WOAD: I don't think you can predict to win two of them. That was definitely great. I've been hoping to play well and at that point try and get the points for my card going into Evian would have been probably the plan.

Q. Was getting those points the clincher for turning professional?

LOTTIE WOAD: Yeah, yeah. Once I got my card I was going to take it, yeah.

Q. Fine. And about today, how did the -- you had a lot of the supporters from your home club, didn't you? What was the feeling like playing in front of them, having won last week?

LOTTIE WOAD: Yeah, a lot of people from my club. My family are here. Everyone was really nice, clapping lots and being very supportive. It was nice to play in front of them.

Q. Were you trying to keep them on the edge? Were you getting really -- did you spot who they were?

LOTTIE WOAD: Oh, I couldn't tell. Yeah, they were a bit too far away. I'm not going looking into the crowd.

Q. (Indiscernible.)

LOTTIE WOAD: It was okay. It was a bit mixed. Had a good amount of birdies; just few poor bogeys on the front nine that could have definitely been avoided.

Nice to finish on par and birdie the last.

Q. Are you satisfied overall, Lottie? Or do you think, what might have been?

LOTTIE WOAD: Not really, but it's one of those rounds that could have definitely away from me. I am happy how I hung in there and got a decent round together.

Q. And playing with the other two, was that special?

LOTTIE WOAD: Yeah, it was great. We had a good time. Everyone was really friendly. It was good.

Q. What do you do when you get (indiscernible.) You do seem very impassive, emotions under control. Compared to some of the people you're very calm.

LOTTIE WOAD: Yeah, I just try and not get too angry. Definitely a little bit frustrating at the start, but just kind of patience was the key for the day. It's not a course that's going to give up a lot of birdies, so you can't start attacking pins because you're frustrated. You just got to maintain it.

Q. When you're out and about in the rest of your life, are you as level headed and as calm?

LOTTIE WOAD: I don't know. You have to ask my family on that one.

Q. You know when you get worked up.

LOTTIE WOAD: Probably not, yeah.

Q. You find this different, like the attention and the buildup? Do you find the attention that's been on you in terms of media has distracted you at all?

LOTTIE WOAD: I think I was able to, yeah, get a really good prep in. Got everything I wanted to do in the practice days. Was happy with that. Yeah, definitely more attention, but just trying to ignore it as much as possible.

Definitely a bit new.

Q. (Indiscernible.)

LOTTIE WOAD: My granddad is from Leeds, so my dad supports Leeds so I support Leeds.

Q. Nigel Edwards was telling me that you and he had a round here. Was that the only time, first time you played here?

LOTTIE WOAD: Yeah, only time I played here.

Q. How many times have you played?

LOTTIE WOAD: That's the only time I've played here.

Q. What was your immediate reaction?

LOTTIE WOAD: When I played it then?

Q. Yeah.

LOTTIE WOAD: That it would be a good test. It was a bit softer when I played it back then, so it was a little different than it is today.

Q. (Indiscernible.)

LOTTIE WOAD: Yeah, I think having a quick turnaround is a good thing for me probably. Get to get out early and just try and get a good start and good momentum. Finishing on that birdie definitely makes you feel a little bit better.

Q. Are you feeling with what's happened in the last month that you've been able to ride the wave and it's been so exciting you've just gone onto the next project? Have you anticipated how your life will be different for the next six months traveling around the States?

LOTTIE WOAD: Yeah, I think I'm just trying to focus on each week and think of that later on. Obviously coming off Scottish it was coming straight into this which is a big week, so just trying to move on from that as much as possible, treat this as its own event.

Q. So those sort of anticipating where your schedule will be after this has really been put aside until you get this out of the way?

LOTTIE WOAD: Yeah, I haven't fully decided my schedule yet. I'll look into it after this week is done.

Q. You're really methodical when you play; practice swing; take your time. What is your thinking behind taking so much time in your approach?

LOTTIE WOAD: I think, yeah, you need to have a consistent routine, especially under pressure that's a good thing. I just try and make sure that I'm doing that and got all the numbers I need to commit to the shot. Especially in the wind that's important.

Q. (Indiscernible.)

LOTTIE WOAD: Yeah.

Q. Did you watch the Lionesses match on Sunday?

LOTTIE WOAD: Listened to it on the radio as we were driving down from Scotland.

Q. Few cheers?

LOTTIE WOAD: Yeah. Yeah, it was great, yeah.

Q. Long drive.

LOTTIE WOAD: Yeah, yeah.

Q. How late did you arrive?

LOTTIE WOAD: I think about 1:00 a.m. yeah.

Q. With all the attention and the hype going round, do you thrive on that or you block it out or you like playing under pressure?

LOTTIE WOAD: I think it's a bit of both. Definitely trying to block out as much as possible. That can be challenging and not possible at times, so you kind of just got to ride to and deal with it, yeah.

Q. Cheers on the first tee this morning.

LOTTIE WOAD: Yeah, walked out and a massive cheer. I was kind of looking around. I thought it was meant for me. Yeah, everyone has been great.

Q. Feel like a special time. Mentioned Lionesses there. Does it feel like that when you're out there, that it's a special time for yourself and also women's sports on the whole?

LOTTIE WOAD: Yeah, definitely. I think the crowds have shown, just how many people come out and watch us. Just trying to enjoy it as much as possible really.
