AIG WOMEN'S OPEN

July 31, 2025

Sara Kouskova

Rest Bay, Porthcawl, Wales, UK

Mixed Zone

Q. Solid start to the week. How do you assess your round?

SARA KOUSKOVA: Thank you. Well, it was quite long today. I think there was lots of solid shots, especially towards the front nine. It felt like I wanted it to feel. It was just really solid golf. Some putts went in. The hole seemed quite big today, which was nice.

Then obviously the wind picked up quite a lot. I was fighting towards the end, had a double bogey on 16, which was a costly one. I was really happy with the last birdie in the end.

Q. You definitely should be. It was a challenging golf course. How much did you kind of enjoy the views as well? Was that kind of putting your mind at rest slightly, just kind of taking it all in?

SARA KOUSKOVA: I tried to look around, especially around the sea is really beautiful. Yeah, as much as I could to not look at my game at the moment, I looked outside, yeah.

Q. Have you played this course before? Is this your first time?

SARA KOUSKOVA: This is my first time.

Q. Did you get any tips or tricks off Darcey or anything like that?

SARA KOUSKOVA: No, I just -- we arrived, I think, Sunday evening and just played the full 18 on Monday and then another 9 on Wednesday. So tried to really go around and see different shots and look on some of the adversity as well and the heavy rough.

I think I knew what's going to be there somehow, and yet I still got into some positions that surprised me. Yeah, I think, especially like the ball goes really fast, like once it goes off the green, it goes directly to the higher stuff. So that was some of the shots there we tried, and I think it worked.

Q. Definitely. How do you feel about these weather conditions? Do they suit your game?

SARA KOUSKOVA: I wouldn't say so. I think I had to adjust my game, and we worked on it over the past month, I think. It was good to play Scottish last week. I gained two more practice days even though I missed the cut last week. So it was good that I could actually practice in it a little more.

Yeah, still adjusting, but I think it's okay.
