Q. 3-under. What a start to your week tier a little week. Talk us through you're day.
LAURA FUENFSTUECK: Yeah, I'll take that. Very pleased with that. Didn't really have a bad start but just struggling to get the speed right on the greens and just had a couple three putts and missed couple, not really short ones, but testing ones I would say.
Yeah, so happy to fight back and finish 3-under today.
Q. You earned your place here from qualifying. How are the energy levels and how good was it to make it through that?
LAURA FUENFSTUECK: Well, energy levels, I think I was absolutely knackered the last few days and just I've only seen both nines once. I said I think I need to make sure I rest so I have energy to play the tournament then.
So I think at the moment I feel all right. Obviously a bit high on adrenaline as well. Just excited to be here. Such a privilege to play here.
Yeah, just buzzing, so I think that will get me through the week anyway.
What was the second question?
Q. You basically answered it. Playing in a major can be so daunting. You had Mamoka Kobori in your group today. Alex back on the bag. Felt like an LET group.
LAURA FUENFSTUECK: Yeah.
Q. How much easier did that make it today?
LAURA FUENFSTUECK: I think obviously it's a major so you're feeling all the emotions. Probably a bit of anxiety, excitement, everything in the bag I think. It's my fourth major, not my first. I've been here before. I just missed out on qualifying last year, so I feel like it's quite easy as a qualifier to feel like you shouldn't be here.
Obviously earned my right to be here, so I think I should also feel that I belong here. Just like I said it's a privilege to play. It's a stunning golf course. When I played the practice rounds it was like, this could be interesting. Obviously today they moved quite a few tee boxes up. I think that was quite helpful.
Made it a little bit more playable and obviously lovely weather. Yeah, just here to enjoy it. Yeah, feel like I belong.
Q. 3-under is one of the rounds of the day so far. What was it in your game that you think was really good?
LAURA FUENFSTUECK: I think obviously with some of the holes it's playing quite firm so you kind of need to choose where you want to be. For example on the last or on some of the other holes I think you can pick, you can try and finish just short or just long.
So I think Alex and I did a really good job of making good choices out there and having good leaves out there. And then I think my irons were quite good. Some wedges that I've hit close as well.
Putting was decent later on. I think overall quite solid today. Yeah, lots to build on.
Q. So right now there is four German players under par.
LAURA FUENFSTUECK: Yeah.
Q. Three that made it through the qualifier.
LAURA FUENFSTUECK: Perfect.
Q. So what is going on with German women's golf? What don't we know about golf in Germany?
LAURA FUENFSTUECK: Good question. It's funny. We were all chatting on Monday. I think Patricia was close as well and unfortunately just missed out on the reserve spot in the playoff.
To be fair I think the three players that qualified probably also feel like I think I was -- yeah, just shy couple of really good results in the LET to qualify directly. I reckon Olivia and Aline will feel the same way on the LPGA.
So I think we all are excited to be here and just had to jump the hurdle on Monday.
Q. (No microphone.)
LAURA FUENFSTUECK: Everything, yeah, I think we've been working on -- made a few changes putting-wise. Made a few changes equipment-wise going into this week. I've got two hybrids if the back usually and we said one is just a little bit too floaty in the wind, so that was one of the things we changed for this week. They're both slightly less spinny now and I think that was a good choice going into this week.
Then general driving we've been working on the same stuff. Just trying to move slightly better physically and, yeah, mechanically, so I think that's, yeah, work in progress.
Q. (No microphone.)
LAURA FUENFSTUECK: Yes, physios. Helps really when you're exhausted. So, yeah, I think the -- well, the performance team has been amazing. We've got an unreal gym this week. That helps you get rid of some of the tiredness. There is a sauna and plunge pool. So anything that can help you recover is available. We've got amazing food. Yeah, if there is any week you kind of want to be tired going into it and hope you can recover a little bit throughout, it's this week, yeah.
Q. (No microphone.)
LAURA FUENFSTUECK: Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, to be fair0 that week felt really short from qualifying to then teeing off. So I think, yeah, it's been -- I've not enjoyed much of the fun bits. I've dropped off my laundry, so that's great. That's been helpful. Yeah, I've not done any games so far.
