AIG WOMEN'S OPEN

July 31, 2025

Georgia Hall

Rest Bay, Porthcawl, Wales, UK

Mixed Zone

Q. How was that?

GEORGIA HALL: Yeah, good test. It was tough, definitely. And the wind got up quite a lot to start and then came back the last six, seven holes. Yeah, it was tough out there.

When I saw the forecast a couple days ago for today I thought anywhere under par would be a pretty good go.

Yeah, the wind settled around like around the middle of the round for us and then got quite heavy, two, three club wind coming in, so...

Q. (Regarding Darcey Harry.)

GEORGIA HALL: Yeah, she was up there. Yeah, no, but she's really nice girl and enjoyed playing with her and looking forward to tomorrow. She's a really great player. I thought she would be a bit nervous, hometown and everything, but she just didn't look it anyway.

Q. (Indiscernible.)

GEORGIA HALL: Oh, yeah, no, I said that to Paul walking down the first hole. He didn't realize it was him with her, they were together. So, yeah, it was good. I think he done a good job at well.

Q. How is Paul? How is it working?

GEORGIA HALL: Yeah, it's great. Obviously like for me, I get most of my advice from him from like chipping pitching. He imagines shots a lot better than me and I can't beat him in a chipping comp even now, so...

Yeah, he's really good and very calm out there and nice to have that support off the golf course as well as on it.

Q. (Indiscernible.)

GEORGIA HALL: Yeah, quite a lot. I missed like six greens and I always ask his opinion on it. He, yeah definitely helps, especially on 16 as well. It's playing really tough today, so happy to get a par from that.

Q. Where were you?

GEORGIA HALL: On the other tee box? Yeah, I went left and went left again accidentally. And then I ended up like fine on the fairway, but a tough shot over a bunker with winds, so, yeah, luckily I had a tap-in.

Q. (Indiscernible.)

GEORGIA HALL: He don't really tell me how to play a shot, but I would ask if I'm a bit stuck or a lot of times I'm in between two shots. Out here you can hit like six different types of options.

Yeah, he just helps with telling me to like stay committed on it.

Q. Will he come back?

GEORGIA HALL: That's more a question for him I think. Obviously right now he's not playing and he's just kind of supporting me, which obviously very grateful for, yeah.

Q. (Indiscernible.)

GEORGIA HALL: I know, yeah, he's a very good player. He doesn't give himself enough credit. Obviously I'm not complaining. Feel very lucky to have him with me.

Q. (Indiscernible.)

GEORGIA HALL: I know, yeah. Very good.

Q. ...been in this position before.

GEORGIA HALL: Yeah.

Q. Tournament you like above all others, isn't it?

GEORGIA HALL: Oh, by far, yeah. This is one I circle out the most by any stretch just like massively. I love this event and obviously a home event. Have people supporting me much more than I do when I play in America. This is one I really strive to do well in.

So, yeah, just happy to like have good first round and also play this golf course. I think it's one of the best that we have actually. It's very tough, especially when the wind gets up. Yeah, interesting. See what the weather does.

Q. (Regarding Charley's comments.)

GEORGIA HALL: Yes, I saw that. I don't remember me hitting the wrong ball. Might have been her.

No, the weather was dreadful then as well and I know it was for the Seniors. Not afraid to get a bit of rain and wind here.

Q. But if the weather stays like this.

GEORGIA HALL: I know. I don't think it's going to happen.

Q. (Indiscernible.)

GEORGIA HALL: I remember like playing decent here when I was playing with Charley, but it's such a long time ago, 2011. Most of all just have fond memories of coming to Wales because both my amateur championships were here and we don't come here a lot as you know. For time we have an Open here. So just trying to feed off the good memories.

Q. Feed off visuals, proper links?

GEORGIA HALL: Yeah, it's more creative and less just hit it there and hit it on the front of the green and do the same thing every time. It's never like that. Yeah, I enjoy it, yeah.

Q. How was your year?

GEORGIA HALL: Not the best, no. But I kind of have -- I know that like it's my 11th year on Tour and every year I played I've done pretty decent. I would say I've had pretty good years and obviously this year is not over yet, but so far the start of the year hasn't been what I wanted.

But I understand that's kind of normal for a career that long, and it's just kind of how you just keep grinding and learning more about yourself.

So it's been hard at times, but also I think it makes you stronger. When do you get out of that you can kind of go from there, yeah.

Q. Great time to be in women's sports, isn't it? Did you feel that out there on the course today?

GEORGIA HALL: Yeah, definitely. I think it's great for Wales and great for women, obviously the women's football team winning the Euros. I just think more things like that that we do well this obviously the more media coverage we can give to all different types of sports.

I'm so glad there are so many crowds out there. I wasn't sure. This place is not really -- it's middle of nowhere a little bit, so I wasn't sure how many crowds we were going to get. Pretty happy to get lots of support. I saw even this morning there was loads as well.

Hopefully get more over the weekend and tomorrow.

Q. (Indiscernible.)

GEORGIA HALL: Yeah, I just think -- well, just come from experience. Like watching men's football in England, it's so hyped. I think the women sometimes get a bit left out for -- based on the female side of things. We have such a good team and it's so good they won.

Hopefully the women's football team can get more recognition and be more level with that. Maybe not to the same standard, but yeah, I think they deserve more than what they get.

Q. Do you think golf can achieve a new level?

GEORGIA HALL: Yeah, definitely. But I will say that the last five, six years while I've been on Tour it's grown massively. Even this event I think has over tripled prize fund from when I won it, and more sponsors and companies come aboard. Now we're playing proper world class golf courses as well like the men's rota.

The facilities we have and the services, player services, are just like second to none. So I know from speaking to other players that even like the food and all the little things, transport, it's really good. So, yeah, good week for all of us.
