Quick Quotes
Q. Third round here at the ISPS Handa Women's Scottish Open, phenomenal round from you today. Take us through, especially that front nine.
PAULA RETO: Yeah, the front nine was sort of just making birdies, good shots, good routines, stuff like that, and also a little bit less windier. The back nine was a bit more windier and obviously tougher stretch.
So just told myself, give myself some chances and even if par is a good score, but it was nice to come off a good nine into the back nine knowing it's a bit tougher, sort of keep that momentum going. Yeah, sort of ended up being a good day for sure.
Q. What was working specifically? Putting? Your approach? What was working so well?
PAULA RETO: Putting. I saw the lines a lot better today. And I didn't have like sort of tap-ins. They were from 15 to 20 foot. I definitely saw the line. The putter was working.
I feel like when the putter is working, it's more easy. That was good. Hopefully I can give myself some more chances tomorrow.
Q. This is your sixth start at this event. What keeps you coming back? And talk about your enjoyment of links golf.
PAULA RETO: I love the community over here. I love coming to Scotland and playing in the Home of Golf.
Also I feel like you don't have to be perfect out here because you're playing wind shots and different sorts of shots. So it's a bit more creative so not too much pressure on yourself to hit the perfect shot.
Sort of that mindset, I feel like I'm a bit more at ease to play and enjoy it, and you know, it's going to be windy. You wake up, it's like already automatic. I just like the expectation of that, I would say. I like to play in that sort of environment.
Q. And what's the mindset heading into tomorrow?
PAULA RETO: Yeah, you know, I'm going to give myself some chances tomorrow. You know, I'm really far from winning or whatever. So I'm just going to give myself opportunities and see if I can finish my best.
Q. Heading into the final major of the year, knowing what you need this week, how much of that is on your mind, and has it been a motivator this week?
PAULA RETO: You know, I told myself at the beginning of the week, I'm in The Scottish Open and I'm going to make that my main priority. If I get into the AIG by my finish, great, and if not I'm going to do the qualifying like I planned. It's in my head. I know I'll have another opportunity on Monday to do it. I think they are giving 12 spots.
Regardless, if I just take care of myself here at The Scottish Open, because that's where I'm at, I just ran with that mentality this week.
