ISPS HANDA WOMEN'S SCOTTISH OPEN

July 24, 2025

Morgane Metraux

Ayrshire, Scotland, UK

Dundonald Links

Quick Quotes

Q. A round of 68 to open here. Just talk us through obviously very calm conditions this morning. What was that like?

MORGANE METRAUX: Yeah, I started the round thinking I needed to take advantage of it, and I was 4-under through five, so I definitely did that. Putter was hot today. So I made a lot of footage. I didn't hit the ball as good as I wanted to, so I had a bogey and double because of really bad shots.

So I'm going to try to clean it up for tomorrow and try to keep the putter hot overnight.

Q. After you had that little spell in the middle, you bounced back with more birdies on your back nine. So obviously you knew that you were playing well enough to get those birdies back out there.

MORGANE METRAUX: Yeah, actually, I had a very adventurous birdie on 3. I hit it in bushy grass and I had to lay up. I had a 5-wood into the green and somehow made a birdie. So I was like, it's just one of those days when something happened for me. And then I was more conventional again. So yeah, I just took whatever was working for me today and I'm going to try to clean up the rest tomorrow.

Q. What's it like playing links golf, obviously we are used to coming back to this venue every year. Do you get more used to it as you come here?

MORGANE METRAUX: Yeah, for sure. My first year playing links golf was not off the top of my head my best. I didn't grow up playing in much wind or college or courses like this either. I only had one experience a year, the British, so wasn't enough to get used to it.

Now through the years, I've gotten better at it, and I've also gotten better at playing with the wind in general. I'm just planning what shots to hit, and putting in the wind, obviously today is not as windy as it's probably going to get tomorrow for me. But yeah, I think through the years, I've definitely gotten better at it.

Q. Will you go to the range this afternoon and work on your other shots to get prepared for a windier afternoon tomorrow?

MORGANE METRAUX: Yeah, I need to get the driver a bit straighter for tomorrow. Clean up a few iron shots I didn't hit as well as I wanted to, but overall, obviously very pleased with the scores and try to keep it going.
