ISPS HANDA WOMEN'S SCOTTISH OPEN

July 23, 2025

Mimi Rhodes

Ayrshire, Scotland, UK

Dundonald Links

Quick Quotes

Q. Playing in the ISBS Women's Scottish Open, links golf. What do you feel about links golf?

MIMI RHODES: Yeah, I feel good about it. I haven't actually played a lot of it since my amateur days, but yeah, I like it. A lot of different shots can be played out there in different ways. I think it's a really good showcase of golf, especially when it's windy. It shows you how the better players can control their ball in the wind and stuff. I'm excited for it.

Q. Obviously playing in this event, it being co-sanctioned with the LPGA, had a lot of these the past few weeks, are you kind of getting a bit more used to seeing some of the people around you?

MIMI RHODES: Yeah, definitely. I think this is my third week with them around, so I'm definitely more used to it and comfortable. Yeah, I'm just not going to put any pressure on myself and play golf out there and enjoy it.

Q. In terms of this golf course, what have you thought when you've been practising?

MIMI RHODES: I really like it, to be honest. I feel like I have to concentrate on the tee shots a lot, especially with cross wind. There's quite a lot of cross wind on most of the holes, and the greens are really slopey, so just pacing myself, below the pins when necessary, and if I get any misses, missing on the right sides.

Q. You have a Scottish caddie on your bag this week?

MIMI RHODES: I do.

Q. Is he helpful?

MIMI RHODES: Yeah, he is, and him caddying at Kingsbarns, he knows what he's doing, and he's really comfortable reading the greens as well. I'm going to get him to read some putts, and we're just going to work as a team out there. It's nice for him to be on home soil and know what's going on out there.

Q. Obviously last year Nicole did quite well at this tournament and he was caddying for her then --

MIMI RHODES: That's great. That gives me more confidence.

Q. In terms of your own game, how have you been feeling the past few weeks?

MIMI RHODES: Yeah, good. A lot better. I've gotten to see my coach, had a week off, and worked on some mental stuff. I'm just not going to, again, put any pressure on myself, try and enjoy it out there, and just try and commit to as many shots as I can.

Q. Obviously still leading the Order of Merit right now with your three victories, but you've got people getting closer and closer. Obviously this event carries more points on the LET, so how important is this run of events, having this and the AIG back-to-back?

MIMI RHODES: Yeah, I think, again, it's just a nice experience to have in my rookie year. I'm not going to think too much about the points. Just going to enjoy it, and it's nice to have my dad here. Nice to have his support. Next week it being so close to home, I'm going to have a lot of people there. So I'm just going to have a smile on my face and make the most of it.

Q. And the fact it's drivable for a lot of people next week, they can just get in the car and hop across, does that make a difference?

MIMI RHODES: Yeah, 100 per cent. There's a lot of family going to come and watch me, and a lot of people being around, I'm just going to focus on the atmosphere.

Q. Your dad, how many events has he been to this year?

MIMI RHODES: This is his first LET -- well, event of the year. Yeah, it's going to be nice to see what he thinks about everything. But I'm glad he's come to a nice setup.

Q. Obviously there's kids around waiting for autographs. Is that nice to see at these kind of tournaments on UK soil, to have so many fans wanting to soak up the golf?

MIMI RHODES: Yeah, definitely. As a little girl myself, I was always looking up to professionals and young pros, so I just hope that I can do the same for younger golfers.

Q. Finally, just talking about the back-to-back nature of the two events, playing two links golf events in the wind, how do you battle the potential weather conditions that will be coming over the next few days?

MIMI RHODES: Yeah, I think it'll be a bit of a shock, to be honest. But the beginning of the season, LET kind of gave us a bit of a practice with rainy golf. I think this week is not going to be too bad. Just have to control the ball in the wind, of course, and yeah, just be smiling out there and just enjoy.
