Quick Quotes
Q. Congratulations on what happened today and your great play, especially what you did on those last five holes, getting yourself back in position. Talk me through what you saw out there and how you feel after this day?
XINGTONG CHEN: Definitely saw a lot of positives out there. Just being able to keep my focus and my spirit throughout these 35 holes, and just not giving up, even though I was like 4-down or whatever. Just keep it going step by step, just being consistent.
Q. Playing against the competition that you played against this week, what did this tell you about yourself and the type of golfer you are and your performance?
XINGTONG CHEN: I think it definitely gave me a lot more confidence because previously I had a lot of doubts about myself, just would I be able to make it even just as an amateur golfer, trying to get into college.
But I think after this week, I definitely have a lot more confidence, and just trust my game a bit more.
Q. If you could give me one word to summarize your week at the U.S. Girls' Junior this week, give me one, and explain what that word would be?
XINGTONG CHEN: I think it would just be -- let me think. There's a lot of words it could be.
Q. Just talk me through it.
XINGTONG CHEN: It could be amazing because honestly, I never expected to make it this far. But I think it should be unexpected. I never really dared to believe I could get this far in this championship. Just this opportunity to be here, I'm so grateful. Yeah, just very proud to be here.
Q. What does it mean to you the first Singaporean to make the final at the U.S. Girls' Championship?
XINGTONG CHEN: Amazing. I'm so glad to be able to make my country proud. It's been great, like the support there, and just being able to play so much because of them, and I'm just so glad to be able to make a part of history.
Q. This is your first time playing in the U.S.; take me through your thoughts about it after the first week, especially in Georgia, and talk about it in comparison to other places you've played worldwide?
XINGTONG CHEN: I mean, I've been here for a month already, so it's been great really. I think the people are really friendly. The staff here are so nice. I think this is just a great, well-organized tournament.
Yeah, I love it. The environment here, just the general community around golf is very different from Singapore because we don't have much of a golfing culture, so to speak. It's definitely very different, and I love it.
Compared to some of the other places, I think it's just the amount of people that play golf really. It's just such a big part of the culture. It's so different. I love it.
Q. Talking about that and a recapping of the week, what is your biggest takeaway from this experience and how will this help you moving forward?
XINGTONG CHEN: My biggest takeaway, there were a lot of positives, and I've been able to figure out some of my weaknesses as well. As long as I work on some of my putting, maybe short game, I think -- but it's really showed that I have what it takes as long as I just work a little bit harder. So definitely a lot of positives to be taken.
