Rayee Feng

Johns Creek, Georgia, USA

Atlanta Athletic Club (Riverside Course)

Quick Quotes

Q. Just a couple questions. First, what was your mindset going into this round this afternoon? We talked about Aphrodite is one of your friends from home, so what was that like?

RAYEE FENG: I mean, just being in the semifinals has totally exceeded my expectations, so I was just like, okay, I'll play. I'll try and play my best. But this morning I didn't play very well, and I kind of clawed my way back up.

But this afternoon I was just like, okay, looking for some improvement maybe from my morning match, and I'm happy with how I played, even though there were some hiccups, but that's okay.

Q. It was a lot of fun watching you guys go back and forth. A lot of great golf this afternoon. I watched you chip in on No. 7. How did that shift your mindset throughout the round?

RAYEE FENG: I practiced a lot of chipping this week because I kept on missing greens. It was just like, wow, nice.

Q. A lot of the holes that -- she kind of gave you a lot of those great chips that you had, so must have been a good feeling not needing your putter on a couple of those saves there. I know it started raining towards the end of your match. Did that affect you at all?

RAYEE FENG: I was a little surprised by the sudden heavy rainfall, but I really don't think it did anything.

Q. Last week you played a lot of match play; how did you prepare for this event with the stroke play and match play and everything? How did that go for you?

RAYEE FENG: Yeah, I played the RLX Polo event at Bethpage a month ago to kind of prepare for this because I wanted to do well in this event, and I really didn't have much match play experience. Then I played the Wyndham Cup also for match play experience and because it's a very fun event.

I think those two events together really helped me learn how to navigate match play. There's some strategic little things that you can do. So I feel like that really helped.

Q. This week with stroke play and match play, two matches in one day, it's probably a lot, but what were your emotions just going through the entire week?

RAYEE FENG: Well, I was hoping to actually get into match play when I was playing the stroke play. I shot like 2-over the first day, and it was fine. I was just like, going into the second day of stroke play, I was like, okay, just don't mess it up. When I played my first U.S. Girls', I think I was 2-over the first day and then I was 1-over going into hole 17 and then I shot a double and a bogey and I missed the cut by one shot. So I was like, don't do that again.

Sorry, what was the question?

Q. What were your emotions this entire week?

RAYEE FENG: I'm really happy to be here. This is such a great event. I love playing USGA championship events. They're just so fun. I was happy to come.

Q. It's kind of crazy, but the USGA has hosted a lot of tournaments at this specific course, so what did you think of Atlanta Athletic Club this entire week?

RAYEE FENG: I really like this course. It was in great condition, and it still is in great condition. I hope we didn't damage the course up too much. I really liked the course layout. The greens, I couldn't really read the greens, so I was struggling a bit on that. It was really fun.

Q. Did you switch your caddie today, this morning? What was that like?

RAYEE FENG: So my brother caddied for me this whole event except the last match. I think he's getting a little sick or dehydrated. I'm not really sure what happened to him. But he wasn't feeling too well during the morning match as well, so the afternoon match, I didn't really think I would make it, first of all, but he just called up his buddy, and he's like, can you come and caddie for my sister because he's been here for two rounds. He watched a little bit, and he was just like, yeah, sure. He was just practicing at his course, so I'm really thankful for him.

Q. What were some of your highlight moments of the week? It could be about golf or hanging out with your friends or anything. What were some of your highlights?

RAYEE FENG: I really enjoyed making bracelets. Usually there was a big ring of girls there and we would just talk about our rounds or talk about whatever. That was really fun. A golf highlight would definitely be my chip-in.

Q. You've played in U.S. Girls' before. This is your first time in Atlanta for something like this?

RAYEE FENG: I played the AJGA Rolex Girls.

Q. Do you enjoy Atlanta? Did you have fun this week here, do anything outside of golf?

RAYEE FENG: No, I didn't do anything. I didn't have that much time. Yeah, it's nice. It's definitely really hot. The grass is really nice, so I like that.

Q. What did you learn about your game or about yourself that you're going to take into your next events?

RAYEE FENG: I think that I've learned to become more resilient, I guess. I was 3-down in my morning match, but I just kept on trying.

I think it kind of -- I don't know how to say this. It kind of taught me, I guess, that it's fine if you kind of screw up a little bit, but you just have to keep on trying.

Q. What's next for you? What's your next big event?

RAYEE FENG: I'm going to the Junior PGA at Purdue's course, and then after that I have U.S. Women's Amateur at Bandon Dunes. I'm so excited for that.
