RICHARD TEDER: A bit crazy on the 1st hole. I thought I was going to black out. I told myself it's another golf shot. It's a 2-iron, my favourite club. The whole day was just unbelievable. The crowds, the fans. It was special.
Q. What was the hard part? Was something hard?
RICHARD TEDER: The course is hard. The course is very difficult. If you hit a bad shot, you're not in a good spot. Hit loads of great shots today, just my putter wasn't really working today, which just happens. It's golf, right? Yeah, happy about today, yeah.
Q. So it wasn't perfect, but it looks like you're still keeping yourself inside the tournament, no? That you still can make the cut at this point. What's your perspective?
RICHARD TEDER: Just try to hang in there, to be honest. Make a lot of pars. Just couldn't make any putts, which 3-over is not that bad for not making anything. I'm happy, yeah.
Q. Saw a little bit of that driving competition you had with Bryson. Did you beat him? How did that all kind of shake out?
RICHARD TEDER: He was struggling. I was hitting some good bombs, yeah. I carried it 363. He got it 388. It was pretty close, but he's a big guy and known for long drives. So it was fun.
Q. Now we'll probably know you for long drives. Were you super confident you could take him down if you had to battle against anybody else and do the same sort of thing?
RICHARD TEDER: I knew I can't really beat Bryson DeChambeau in a long drive contest, but I thought it was going to be close. I thought I was going to lose by 10, 15 yards. It was close really, but it was loads of fun.
Q. Have you ever crossed paths with him before? Do you have like a role model in the game or somebody you look up to? Is he one of them or not quite?
RICHARD TEDER: He's my favourite player. I got asked in an interview before I came here what would be my dream pretty much to have this week? And I said it would be an unbelievable experience to have a long drive comp with Bryson DeChambeau, and it happened.
Q. Did he live up to kind of what you expected?
RICHARD TEDER: Yeah, he's cool. I was watching him on the range hit some balls. It was unreal.
