Q. It was mostly positive today. Do you feel like you kept yourself in it today?
ADAM SCOTT: Yeah. I mean, kind of. It could have got away. I don't know; it felt like we teed off in the rain and played the whole lot in the rain. It was tricky at times. But my golf was okay. Shame about the last.
Q. How nice is it to have those little stretches like 12, 13 where you do grab a couple back and keep it going?
ADAM SCOTT: Yeah. It is handy having birdies. I'd like to have some more stretches like that. It's always an equation at the majors of how much do you press, how much are you going to go and try and hit it close. It's really hard here at a links when the wind is blowing and you've got to hang it way up the other side of the course and try and have it come back. Sometimes you can't get it close. So how aggressive you play is always the thing, and when you go for it and pull off a few, birdies go a long way.
I'm not out of it, but I'm going to have to have a good morning tomorrow. Hopefully the weather cooperates.
Q. Did today maybe alter how aggressive or unaggressive you are tomorrow? Should you press a little bit more or no?
ADAM SCOTT: It's condition dependent. I think if the wind is blowing over 10 miles an hour, it's really hard to press. They've shown us today they're willing to put a few salty pins out there as well which were kind of hidden behind slopes. You're only going to get so many good looks a day.
But the good news is I made a few putts today. That feels good. I'd like to hit a little better off the tee tomorrow if I can and then hopefully all that adds up to a pretty stress-free mid 60s.
Q. Feels like a hard golf course to get any real momentum going at times and then the weather adds to it. Is that how it felt for you today?
ADAM SCOTT: Certainly in our wave, playing the first holes into the wind with the rain. It seemed like when the rain dried up, the scoring out of the gate was good. I saw a lot of 3-unders and 4-unders on the board through 7 all of a sudden. It's possible, but it was playing harder than that when we were out there I felt like.
You've got to make your own momentum. I guess that's what I was trying to say before. You've got to make some birdies somewhere to win this thing.
Q. Were you conscious out there of how bunched the leaderboard is? It's felt like that all day pretty much.
ADAM SCOTT: I couldn't see that. I could just see more and more guys at 4- and 3-under on the board. Again, it's hard to go really deep around here in these conditions. You're just not going to get it close to 15 pins to shoot 9-under. If you do, then you're better than I.
Q. You've always been an admirer of fashion. I'm wondering where you stand on Jason pushing the envelope forward in golf fashion? Are you an admirer of his outfits and new trends? Where do you stand?
ADAM SCOTT: Yeah. I'm a supporter of fashion in golf. I think it's part of the game. I've been with fashion companies pretty much my whole career. Whether it's Ian Poulter or Jason Day, they're expressing their personalities. I didn't realise Jase had such personality. (Laughter).
I like it though.
Q. You talked about this being a really good links test. The women are over going to Porthcawl in Wales for their Open in a couple weeks. Have you had a chance to play there?
ADAM SCOTT: I've never played there.
Q. How would you put yourself in their mindset, knowing you're a good links player? What's the right attitude to learning a new links course?
ADAM SCOTT: I'd actually think, from what I've seen, their game really would adapt to the links well. I think their flatter ball flight, less spin would be a nice -- would be easy to adapt. I think the hardest thing for us is coming here and toning it down, bringing the flight down and taking the spin off and letting the ball move forward. We're always trying to stop the ball. Having watched the ladies play a little bit on the Sand Belt the last couple years, I see they adapt to that kind of firmer ground. They're better than us at reading the ball going forward.
