THE CHAMPIONSHIPS

July 3, 2025

Arthur Fery

Wimbledon, London, UK

Press Conference

L. DARDERI/A. Fery

6-4, 6-3, 6-3

THE MODERATOR: Just give us your thoughts on the match today.

ARTHUR FERY: Yeah, it was a tough to come back today after yesterday finishing late. Did my best. Thought I came out with a pretty good game plan. And yeah, not too many regrets.

THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.

Q. I was watching at the end when play got suspended yesterday. The camera went to you and you sat in your chair, and you were looking and thinking. It felt like watching you that you were looking and thinking. I don't want to talk for you, but like maybe you missed a few chances or you were reflecting on what had just gone on and thinking about it. What was kind of running through your head about that?

ARTHUR FERY: Yeah. I mean, I was tired, for sure. That second set yesterday was a physical one. I mean, yeah, when you are at change of -- when it's the end of the set, and you have another two sets to play, you don't try and think too much about what's just happened.

But yeah, when they decide to stop play and then I had a little bit of time to just think and decompress a little bit still on court, which is not usually the case.

So, yeah, I guess just a bit of disappointment in my chair at the end of that second set. Yeah, I was just a bit tired as well. It was a pretty physical match. Even today I thought was physical. He's a clay-court player. So yeah, it was tough at times.

I guess it shows me where I can improve.

Q. I was going to say, actually, even after the first day you battled hard, you battled to get a lot of break points. You saved a lot of break points as well. You gave yourself opportunities. One, is it kind of a disappointment letting those slip, or positive that you can be, like, Oh, I can't get myself into those positions and it doesn't take too much more to take them?

ARTHUR FERY: Yeah, I mean, there were some matches where you have so many break points, and you come off the court having lost and you're pissed at yourself because you felt like you managed them poorly.

Yesterday and today, I mean, I had a lot of break points, but it wasn't one of those matches. I thought he played really well on break points. Yes, there are obviously a few here and there, but for the most part, he was serving good. I don't have too many regrets.

Even today I was a break up in the start of the third. I played a really good game to break him. I really focused on that game at 2-1 to try and hold serve and didn't think I did a whole lot wrong to get broken back.

So, yeah, I mean, I'm pretty proud of my performance. Yeah, overall it's frustrating. I had a lot of break points, but didn't think I did a huge amount wrong.

Q. Is it a sort of situation with the game being paused? You get the physical break, but then your momentum is broken, and you've got to get back in the right frame of mind and pick up where you left off.

ARTHUR FERY: Yeah, it probably was going to help me to stop last night. I was two sets to love down. Yes, very close match, but still, momentum was on his side, and he was playing very well.

Stopping last night was good for me. I came out this morning, practiced, warmed up well this morning. Yeah, I was going to try and inch my way back into the match.

I mean, I thought he came out very well again today. I tried to use the crowd. I tried to change a few things tactically. Yeah, wasn't enough today.
