THE CHAMPIONSHIPS

July 3, 2025

Jannik Sinner

Wimbledon, London, UK

Press Conference

J. SINNER/A. Vukic

6-1, 6-1, 6-3

THE MODERATOR: Jannik, nice result for you out there. Give us your thoughts on the match.

JANNIK SINNER: Yes, very happy. Playing on Centre Court is always very special. Happy about the performance and the win. Let see what's coming now in the next round.

THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.

Q. In the last game, saving a lot of break points. Then you hit what you called was a lucky shot. Do you feel when the pressure is on in those moments, is it easier to hit great shots like that, or does it make it a little bit tougher?

JANNIK SINNER: Oh, no. Talk about this specific shot, there was only one shot I could really hit, no? I had to go for it because he was cutting the corner. If I was hitting too much in the middle, he had easy volley, so the point was lost in any case. I had to risk it.

It's not about if it's easy or not. In certain moments you have to improvise a little bit to understand what the chances are if you win the point.

I got lucky there. The match could have been a little bit longer. I'm happy that I sit here with this result.

Q. You had said a couple weeks ago that you found people compare you a lot to Novak. You said there's some things similar about your game and some things are different. Could you explain what you see as the similarities between you and Novak, especially on grass, and what might be different?

JANNIK SINNER: It's difficult to say because I still believe we are both different players, no? We do have couple of similarities in a way of how we maybe hit the ball on the forehand and backhand.

I feel like he has improved a lot the serve. Like today he was serving incredibly well. I watched the match. The way he moves, I feel like he is still much more confident than I am on grass, how he moves.

But this is also the experience he has more than I have. He mix up the game a little bit more. I may be a little bit the faster hitter. But in the other way, I'm also quite consistent, no, like he is.

There are some similarities. But yeah, I believe that he gave me a lot of informations that I can make my game similar to his, but in my style.

Yeah, so I always try to see from certain players what I can take and trying to see if it works well. Yeah, he is definitely the main person I look up to, trying to do couple of things like him.

Q. I'm writing about Kamil Majchrzak, who had a case with the ITIA about a positive test a few years ago. I'm curious, for you, do you think there should be ways that lower-ranked players can also have resources to help them when they're trying to appeal or fight their cases? Some have said it's more difficult than it is for players who have a higher rank and have a lot of money for lawyers and scientists, different things.

JANNIK SINNER: So what I think is that I am in a position where I can take a lawyer or a higher, good lawyer, because I'm in the position. Fortunately, I also have the money what maybe others don't have.

But the process I went through, it's the same. There is no better treatment. Maybe I have good defense in a way because I have good people around, and this is because I've earned my money, and now I can do that.

In the other way, the process like the ITIA works and how fast everything goes, it's the same. So I know there in the past there have been difficult choices and decisions. This I understand. But, yeah, what I can say that my case was controlled not once, but twice, three times, and it always came out that I was innocent.

Yeah, I mean, that's it.

Q. Do you think there should be something to help players who don't have the money for something like a lawyer in these situations?

JANNIK SINNER: Yeah, I mean, if I can help, I help. It's not that the thing. But, again, if this happened to me maybe when I was 18, for example, I didn't have the money, so maybe I was in the same situation.

It happened when I earned my money, and then obviously I take the best people I can. It's the same thing with the best players to have also the whole team for them. I have two coaches. Here I don't have physio and physical trainer. You can build up everything. It's the same thing on the other side.

Q. I'm doing to a piece on Dan Bloxham, he walks players out onto Centre Court and No. 1 Court. Have you had any interactions with him, and can you speak about his role?

JANNIK SINNER: Who, sorry?

Q. Dan Bloxham. Do you know him? The Master of Ceremonies. He walks players out onto Centre Court and No. 1 Court.

JANNIK SINNER: For sure I know him. Maybe now with the name, I'm not good.

Yeah, look, what I can say is that the organization here is incredibly well. They treat us here like it's our home. We have the privilege. The walk-on is different. Especially for people who played there for the first time, we usually always the ones stepping first on the court. Maybe you get a little bit lost there also, so you need someone who guides you.

It's always a very special feeling. They make sure that everything is perfect, that people cannot go towards you before the match. They do an amazing job.
