THE CHAMPIONSHIPS

July 4, 2025

Luciano Darderi

Wimbledon, London, UK

Press Conference

J. THOMPSON/L. Darderi

6-4, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3

THE MODERATOR: Appreciate it was a difficult loss. If you could sum up the match today.

LUCIANO DARDERI: Yeah, today was difficult match. Jordan is amazing player here. Yesternight I was not feeling really well, so I think I do regret today.

I fight since the last point, but I have to say congratulations to Jordan. He do an amazing match today. So it was a good week. First time in the third round. So I'm very happy about the week, yeah.

THE MODERATOR: Questions in English.

Q. I want to ask you about what happened in the first set on set point when Jordan seemed to lose his hat, and you played out the point. Jordan won the point.

LUCIANO DARDERI: Yeah, nothing special. He just did a cap during the point in the hand. I was thinking it was repeat. Just if the cap was going in the floor, it was just repeat. I didn't know about the rule. That's it.

Q. Were you expecting the umpire to stop the point?

LUCIANO DARDERI: Yes, I expect he would stop the point, but he didn't. He didn't stop the point.

Q. Is it your understanding that if the hat falls onto the ground, it stops the point, or if it came off his head?

LUCIANO DARDERI: I don't know.
