C. ALCARAZ/J.L. Struff
6-1, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4
THE MODERATOR: Carlos, another good win. Give us your thoughts.
CARLOS ALCARAZ: Just really, really happy to get that win today. I think it was really, really important against a really difficult opponent. So I just happy with the performance, with the level today, during the whole four sets. Just happy to give myself another chance to be better.
THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.
Q. You made a lot of progress today. Which is the one you're most satisfied of?
CARLOS ALCARAZ: I think I returned pretty well. I mean, serving is still much to improve I guess. But I just happy, as well, with the serve.
I think the most that I place from today is the return. I think I returned pretty well. It just puts so much pressure on his serve. I think it was the key today.
Q. You've won 21 matches in a row now. Would you say you're playing the best tennis of your career?
CARLOS ALCARAZ: Yeah, I think so. It wasn't the best tennis the whole 21 matches that I've won. But I think I maintain myself really, really calm in the tough moments in those 21 matches that I won in a row.
But yeah, I think I play a really good tennis lately. Really high confident right now. But yeah, as I say many, many times, I think when you approaching the matches, I doing in a really great way, that I'm really happy about. And during those matches I've saved really difficult moments.
So I'm going to say that, yeah.
Q. You have many good qualities. One of your great qualities is your insight. We just asked Taylor Fritz who of the players he's met has the most insight, is the smartest about tennis. I'd like to ask you that question. Of the players you've met, who are you impressed with their knowledge of the sport?
CARLOS ALCARAZ: That's a good question. That's a good question.
Right now I think Novak Djokovic is the guy who is the smartest, the smartest on court. The player who has the most knowledge of tennis, I think it's Novak without a doubt. With his experience with everything he has lived on a tennis court and have watched a lot of matches in his career, I think he has the most knowledge of tennis.
Q. Mentioning Novak, do you actually have an opportunity for this experience or knowledge to rub off on you in some special way? Is there some kind of special communication channel with Novak from which you actually extract this specific knowledge that you're talking about?
CARLOS ALCARAZ: Yeah, I've talked with Novak many, many times. I've watched his matches. I've practiced with him. I've watched his practices as well sometimes.
But we have never talk about tennis, about matches, whatever. I prefer to talk with him other things, about life, not about tennis, to be honest.
So I don't know how to answer that question, to be honest. Just trying to take some things about his game, the way he practices, the way he plays sometimes in the matches.
But I just watching from outside, not talking with him and asking him some questions about tennis. It's just about watching his matches because I love watching him playing. I love the times that I practiced with him, just to see how he moves, how he plays, how he practices. I love that.
But apart of that, I don't talk too much with him about tennis.
Q. Next you face Rublev. What are your thoughts about that match? What are the differences between your games?
CARLOS ALCARAZ: Well, I mean, he's a really powerful player. I think he plays really well on grass because he always loves to be aggressive. When he finds his forehand, I think he likes to move his opponent from side to side. It's going to be really difficult because on grass, the movement is the most difficult thing to do.
So, yeah, I think we are really similar in that we always like to find our forehand, doesn't matter if it is inside-out, on the forehand side. Always try to be aggressive. I mean, he has a big serve as well.
It's going to be a really interesting one, to be honest, in the fourth round facing Rublev. I think it's going to be a really big challenge. So, I mean, I'm ready to take that challenge. Let's see how it's going to be. We have played big matches already. I'm just happy to facing him once again, face on grass I guess. I'll go for it.
