Press Conference
L. SIEGEMUND/S. Sierra
6-3, 6-2
THE MODERATOR: Appreciate it was a difficult loss. Can you just sum up the match this afternoon.
SOLANA SIERRA: Yeah, I think it was a really tough match. I knew she was really experienced and she has a game that I don't really like.
But yeah, I have to be really positive for all these days, these weeks that I had. So, yeah, just super happy. I'm proud for these results.
THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.
Q. I'm very happy that all these girls in South America have now someone who is working hard, fighting hard, and looking the way to perform it's best. You changed and went to Spain this year, which it was a good decision. You are performing well. What made the difference since you went to this high level academy?
SOLANA SIERRA: Yeah, I think the academy really helped me. It's a really good place to train and to be really professional. They have a lot of -- a big team, and they are all really good persons and super professional.
So I think I am really in a good place. So, yeah, just super happy to be there.
Q. Today your opponent said it was 50% chance you win or she wins. What did she make better than you tried to make better?
SOLANA SIERRA: Yeah, I think she -- I have some opportunities on the first set that I didn't take, but I don't know. I didn't play too good that opportunities. But like I said, her game, I didn't really like it. But then she's really smart, really experienced. So, yeah, she deserves the win.
Q. Really tough loss in qualifying at the end of last week. Did you ever think in that moment after the match that you would be here a week later?
SOLANA SIERRA: Yeah, no, super crazy. Yeah, like a week ago I was out of the tournament, and now, yeah, in the second week. It's just a dream for me.
Yeah, just super happy with this result. Yeah, it motivates me for more.
Q. You've had an amazing few days on the World Tennis Tour as well. You won your first W75 this year. You won your first WTA 125 as well. How significant have those tournaments been in your improvement as a player?
SOLANA SIERRA: Yeah, really important. I think I had a really good two months before this tournament in Wimbledon, so I was playing really good. I was really motivated for the Grand Slams. I knew I was in a good form. Yeah, just happy to be in this kind of situation on the Grand Slams.
Q. You said your opponent played the way you don't like. So can you explain a little bit why you don't like the way she plays.
SOLANA SIERRA: Yeah, I mean, she plays a lot of with the slice, and she change the directions and everything. Yeah, it was really tricky for me.
Also, in grass it's more difficult. But, yeah, maybe I could do better in the first set. Also in the second. But yeah, I think she played well.
