THE CHAMPIONSHIPS

July 6, 2025

Nicolas Jarry

Wimbledon, London, UK

Press Conference

C. NORRIE/N. Jarry

6-3, 7-6, 6-7, 6-7, 6-3

THE MODERATOR: Tough defeat for you. Give us your thoughts on that match.

NICOLAS JARRY: Yeah, extremely tough. Yeah, Cameron played unbelievable. Not unbelievable, played great. He did his job. He plays like that. That's what I wanted to say. Very, very focused. He didn't give me any chances.

The opportunities that I made for myself and the break points, he played very well. So it was very tough. I had to play my best and just it wasn't enough of what I had today.

But I'm, yeah, very happy for my run. It's been an amazing two weeks. Playing good tennis. So happy for that.

THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.

Q. Were you disappointed in the reaction of the crowd at the end?

NICOLAS JARRY: No, no. No, nothing. The crowd was unbelievable here. They're very supportive for both players. I heard a lot of cheering for my side. So I'm very happy how they reacted.

Q. How hard is it to play someone like Cam? From the outside it looks like he maximizes every part of his game, taking his time, making it as hard as possible for you to play him. Is that a fair way of describing it?

NICOLAS JARRY: Yeah, he's a guy that it's difficult to play because of his strokes. Very low backhand. Forehand with a lot of spin. Lefty. So he mixes a lot. It's very difficult to get some rhythm.

I struggle a little bit there in the fifth. I got a little bit more of rhythm. I need to improve a little bit in overall in that fifth set.

Q. Do you think he's quite good at the other stuff, as well? Good at kind of making it match play, taking his time, the ball bouncing, or just making it uncomfortable?

NICOLAS JARRY: He's very competitive, so he knows how to make the most of the important games, the important part of the match.

Q. Did seem to be a couple of moments where you were having heated words with Cameron Norrie. At the end there seemed to be some sort of debate between you. Can you confirm the spat you had, your words with the umpire halfway through the match. It was about what you saw clearly as repeated delaying his first serve?

NICOLAS JARRY: Nope.

Q. What was it about?

NICOLAS JARRY: No. It was what I talked with the referee. She cleared it out, the rules. That was it.

Q. At the end what was said between you?

NICOLAS JARRY: No, it's just something private that I wanted to tell him. That it was a great match. He played very, very good. He didn't give me chances. He deserved to win. All the best luck for the future.

Q. To be perfectly clear, which rule did you think the umpire was misinterpreting?

NICOLAS JARRY: I don't know the rules, so I was asking what I asked.
