C. ALCARAZ/C. Norrie
6-2, 6-3, 6-3
THE MODERATOR: Carlos, great performance today. You must be very pleased with your level.
CARLOS ALCARAZ: Yeah, today was a great, great match. I think the best match so far in the tournament. Just really happy to see myself just keep going, keep improving after every match, each day.
Just really, really happy. I'm going to try to make the most of these two days just to be in a good shape for another semifinal at Wimbledon.
THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.
Q. I saw a video earlier today of you speaking to Tom Holland about getting a round of golf booked in. Will you be as ruthless with him as you are on the tennis court?
CARLOS ALCARAZ: Once we set up a match on golf, I just go for it (smiling). I saw him playing sometimes. There are some videos of him playing golf. I would say he could beat me.
But yeah, I would love to play against him in the golf course. For me it would be such an honor. I will try to set it up in these two days that I will have much time to do it. So let's see if he will be available, and we'll tee it up.
Q. Your level has been so high this Championships. How does this year compare to last year? Are you playing the best tennis we've seen from you at Wimbledon?
CARLOS ALCARAZ: Well, I don't know. I'm just feeling great, to be honest. Every match is different against different player. Every player bring different level into the match.
It's difficult to compare the level from previous year. But what can I say right now is just my confidence really high, to be honest. Just feeling great.
I mean, today, as I said, it was the best match so far in the tournament. I don't know if it has been the best match in the tournament that I play on grass or comparing to last year, for example. Just really pleased and happy that I'm playing such a great tennis right now.
Q. You just said this was your best match in your tournament. What has changed for you in the last few days?
CARLOS ALCARAZ: The serve. I started to feel really comfortable serving in Rublev match. Once you got the good rhythm on the serve, I think is just try to keep it going, trying to feel great.
As I say, on grass when you're serving great or you feel you're serving great, then playing from the baseline or playing the return games, you just going with more confident and just playing more calm and thinking clearly the things.
So I think feeling great in the serve, it gave me a lot of calm then to playing great tennis from the baseline. So I would say that.
Q. What do you think about your semifinal opponent, Taylor Fritz, and the difficulty he could pose, especially on grass?
CARLOS ALCARAZ: Well, as I said on court, his grass season this year, it's been really successful so far. He's playing such a great tennis. I think his game is pretty well on grass, playing flat, playing aggressively, big serve.
I will try to be focus. I will try to show my best tennis. I'm going to try to play at the same level or even higher than today. If I play like today's match, I will get a chance, for sure. So I will try to do it. I will try to play aggressively. I will not let him playing aggressively or dominate the game. We will see.
But I'm excited about that match because I think I have to raise my level if I want to beat him.
Q. You've been on a 23-match winning streak. Do you enjoy being the man to beat?
CARLOS ALCARAZ: I don't know. But 23 winning streak right now, I just don't want to stop there, just want to keep it going.
Yeah, I think in every moment of the season, of the year, we just thought some targets in every opponent. I think right now it is my serve that players that target to me, that really want to beat. Just happy about it. As I said, 23, I don't want to stop there.
Q. You seem to get a lot of pleasure on the court. Obviously you're having fun. Is it the key of the improvement of your game?
CARLOS ALCARAZ: Yeah, I think so. I say that every time once I started to enjoy the match, enjoy the moment, I think my level showed up, my good level showed up.
So, yeah, I think today was the key that I didn't think about anything. I just enjoy every single second out there. Playing a quarterfinal at Wimbledon is a gift. I just tried to make the most of my time stepping on the court, Centre Court. Such a great atmosphere out there.
It's a pleasure for me. I try to enjoy as much as I can. I think I show a really great tennis.
Q. As your career has gone on, can you put your finger on what is the reason for good or bad serving days? Is it to do with preparation, feeling relaxed? Do you know in advance if you're going to serve well or is it something that just feels right at the time?
CARLOS ALCARAZ: Well, yeah, I struggle a little bit the first rounds here in the tournament trying to just improve a little bit. I don't know if it was the throw of the ball or just the rhythm.
But yeah, I just got it on Rublev's match. I just got it, started to feel really good. The percentage went higher. The winning point from the first serve was higher, as well.
So I don't know. I think I started to threw the ball on the serve just much better. I think that helped a lot coming on the serve. Once I got the good rhythm, the good threw of the ball, it just starting to serve much better.
I think today I just tried to follow the same way that I serve on Rublev's match. So hopefully keep it going and keep feeling the good way again.
