THE CHAMPIONSHIPS

July 9, 2025

Flavio Cobolli

Wimbledon, London, UK

Press Conference

N. DJOKOVIC/F. Cobolli

6-7, 6-2, 7-5, 6-4

THE MODERATOR: Flavio, great performance. Obviously not the result you were looking for, but you must be proud of your performance today.

FLAVIO COBOLLI: Yes (smiling).

No, I mean, I think I played a really good match today. I'm very proud about my attitude on the court. Wasn't easy to play on Centre Court for the first time and start like this. I think I played the first set like I never played all my life like this.

I guess my biggest title on the quarterfinal of a Grand Slam, I think did a great job. I gave everything on the court. It wasn't enough, but I'm still happy about the tournament, my shape, because I'm still in a good shape.

But yes, I'm little bit sad because I think deserved five sets today, but I'm still happy about everything here. I think I played really good five match here. I think the way to finish the tournament is positive. Now I needs recovery for sure for play the American swing. Yeah, I need three, four days off and then start again.

THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.

Q. Did you feel at some point that you managed to make Novak doubt? Is this a new feeling for you because you have already played tough players like him? Before, were you able to make them doubt during the match?

FLAVIO COBOLLI: Since the beginning of the match, I tried to play my game aggressive on his forehand. I think today I served very, very good, very well. I think I did everything good today. Not enough against him.

He's a legend of our sport. I think he played better than me the important point. I think I played a really good tiebreak, but at the end you have to push him on his limit. I think I did it, but wasn't enough, for sure.

I'm still happy because played against him on this court. It was very, very tough.

Q. You're not afraid to go for big shots in the tight moments. Do you remind yourself to do that mentally throughout the match, or does it just come naturally to you?

FLAVIO COBOLLI: No, I think is my game. I like to do a great shot, like a little bit Charlie, Carlitos. It's not important, like, how you make the good shot, but the important thing is win the point. At the end, he win more point than me.

But yeah, I'm still happy. I'm very proud of myself.

Q. It's been a great tournament, as you said. What have you learned about yourself over the past three weeks, and what will you take going forward?

FLAVIO COBOLLI: I think to be here is important things outside the court because I always did not so much outside the court, but for make this result, you have to do more than the other one. I think this is the first lesson on this tournament.

Q. What do you mean by that, 'outside of the court'?

FLAVIO COBOLLI: First of all, more practice, healthy food, sleep well. So the small thing, but at the end, is very big in confront of the other one.

Q. You've done well on the clay, and now you have had a good Wimbledon. Are there elements of play or skills that naturally cross over well between clay and grass?

FLAVIO COBOLLI: I think I can play everywhere with my game. My game is real easy: stay close to the line and play here. I think is very good for all of three surface. I think this is the key.

For me, the important thing is to have fun on the court and then I can play everywhere. I can play on grass, clay with the different things, but at the end, is the way where the attitude I think is the most important for my game.

Q. Novak on court said, I definitely think he will be one of the guys we'll be seeing in the big games in the future. Do you believe that? Do you think that attitude has changed this year given your results?

FLAVIO COBOLLI: I think after Hamburg, after my second title, I think this thing changed, and now I believe more in myself. I think I can stay here.
