Quick Quotes

Q. Jon, congratulations on your team's third win. I want to talk about your day. You started six back, and you talked about getting a good round in today to contend into the back nine, and you did that. How proud are you?

JON RAHM: Extremely. I mean, today was a really good round. I can only say I made one bad swing and that was the tee shot on 18. It was a really bad one, to be fair. But besides that, it was a really enjoyable round of golf. Felt really in control all week.

Honestly, I probably hit it better than I have in the last year and a half. Started seeing some shots that reminded me of some other good weeks, and once I got it going today and I felt comfortable on the greens, it was fun to put myself in that situation. Too bad I didn't give myself a better chance on 18, but still a pretty good par.

It was just a little bit too far. I think hopefully this is a precursor for what's to come the rest of the season. It started happening last year, and I hope it happens again because this week felt really good.

Q. Tom shot 5-under today, Hatton struggled at the start, came back and rallied, and Caleb Surratt birdied three of his last holes. What does that say about your team, Jon?

JON RAHM: I think he said he birdied five of the last eight or something like that. I would like for Caleb's sake to have a little bit easier week. He's a phenomenal player with a lot of talent. He just happens to be a little hiccup every once in a while, three, four, six holes that get him out of a tournament or out of contention or having a good week.

I don't think there's anything that needs to be said about Tyrrell. He's a world-class player. He's got the caliber to do well anywhere. He played great last year here, and even if he has a bad start, there's never a doubt in mind that he's got to battle.

Tom, yeah, Tom has got one of the prettier swings on this planet. I don't know what they have in Northern Ireland but they have two of the greatest swings ever seen in this game. His composure, his awareness on the course, he's a champion as it is. He's close to getting a big one at some point. Proud to be a captain, proud to be a team member with them, and really happy to have played well in Spain. If there's any highlight for the week, we get one of the two victories, so really happy with that.
