THE AMUNDI EVIAN CHAMPIONSHIP

July 13, 2025

Leona Maguire

Evian-les-Bains, France

Evian Resort Golf Club

Quick Quotes

Q. Leona, great week for you. Just thoughts overall here at Evian.

LEONA MAGUIRE: Yeah, played some really good golf this week. Really happy with how I played. Probably the best golf I've played in quite a while. It's nice.

I knew my game was sort of trending nicely coming into this week, so I think this is a shot that -- this is a course that tests all aspects of your game.

My approach shot is something I've been working quite a bit on, and they were really, really good this week. Yeah, lots of positives to take out of the week.

Q. Definitely. Two back-to-back birdies at the end as well. How much do you think the crowd spurred you on as well?

LEONA MAGUIRE: Yeah, there was quite big crowds out today. My sister is here, mom, aunt is here, so nice having them over as well.

Yeah, I mean, not as big as the Irish Open last week, but, yeah, there is always a great buzz around here.

Q. Definitely. And have you been able to see much off the course as well? What's your week looked like?

LEONA MAGUIRE: Yeah, I've been -- I think my first time here was 2007. This is my sixth or seventh Evian. It's always somewhere I enjoy coming. My aunt hadn't been here before so showing her around. Went over to Lausanne on the boat one day.

This is week five in a row for me, so I was trying to conserve energy as well as I could. Yeah, I mean, nice week.

Q. Definitely. And looking ahead, AIG.

LEONA MAGUIRE: Uh-huh.

Q. What's the prep looking like?

LEONA MAGUIRE: Home tomorrow morning, some links golf next week at home in Ireland. Undecided whether I play the Scottish. That will be a decision to be made in the next couple days. Scottish and then British, yeah, hopefully.

Q. Is there anything that's really worked for you this week that you've been working on lately that may be why you've done so well this week?

LEONA MAGUIRE: Yeah, my iron shots were really good, especially off the slopes. I had a lot of control over my irons and gave myself a lot of chances.

The hole-in-one was a bonus on Thursday morning as well.

Yeah, no, just a really solid -- maybe didn't quite drive the ball today as well as I would've liked. Left a couple putts short.

But, yeah, overall it's still a top 10 in a major. Yeah, all positives.

Q. Huge congratulations. Another major where you test everything, no?

LEONA MAGUIRE: Yep.

Q. So how much satisfaction it gives you?

LEONA MAGUIRE: Yeah, a lot. I knew things were close, and so it's nice to -- this week is a really good test. If you're a little bit off you get punished quite quickly.

Feel like I executed a lot of great shots, especially coming down the stretch today, so very proud of my week.

Q. How much do you know about Porthcawl and golf in Wales?

LEONA MAGUIRE: So I won the British Am at Pyle & Kenfig, which is across the road from Porthcawl. I played the Vagliano Trophy there in 2011. I don't remember much of the course to be honest. The weather of not very nice.

But, yeah, like I said some links preparation in Ireland next week and be ready to go.

Q. Looks like you'll be one of the players that have played in Wales.

LEONA MAGUIRE: Yeah, I played a couple times. Played a British Am at Pyle & Kenfig, British Am at St. Davids. So a little bit in my amateur days. It's been a while, but, yeah.
